Police Lieutenant General Jiraphop Phuridej targeted 114 illegal firearms distributors across Thailand in an extensive nationwide crackdown.

 

The illegal firearms crackdown, involving over 800 officers including a special task force known as “Hanuman” from the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB), came in the wake of increased online trading of illegal firearms, including modified guns, homemade guns, and blank guns.

 

The illegal firearms crackdown was carried out in 47 provinces, encompassing 114 targets, with the primary objective of arresting those involved in the sale, use, and illegal possession of these unlawful firearms.

 

Jiraphop stated that all CIB divisions were instructed to mobilise their task forces to eliminate criminal activities, with a strong focus on arresting those selling and carrying illicit firearms.

This illegal firearms crackdown follows an alarming rise in the illegal use of such weapons, including legally obtained guns, to commit violent acts in various areas.

So they identified 114 illegal firearm suppliers in a matter of a couple of days. So why didn't they do something about it earlier?

The whole police system is one big joke (pun not intended)

Yes, don't do that in 1st class shopping mall.... that's the ultimate outrage, nothing to do with the victims, nor firearms...

 

Fast track immediate mandatory sentencing NOW! for anybody breaking the gun laws, illegal guns or legal. 

why does it take so long for these fools to to implement this, scared they too will have to go to prison?

Yes even numbers one day and odd the next, but don't advertise it as they do every other crackdown here. 

And they allow the police (and military?) to purchase imported firearms at discounted prices. Wonder what happens to all those “extra” guns?

So the police now hunts itself - or am I getting this wrong as well?

News of the police end of year fire sale will be confirmed after the seizures ???? 

More shame on the BiB Muppets as it's clear they knew of these people all along because you don't identify 114 suspects in a couple of days...

 

Yet another talkfest sadly.

The new government needs to clean out the corrupt cops, then start over, but with decent salary on offer so that theres no need for the rampant corruption to continue and Thailand will be a much safer country for its citizens, once the RTP can actually do the essential Police work that non 3rd World countries provide

if the farang wasn't here it wouldn't have happened.

Sadly the RTP know who the illegal gun suppliers are because they are probably in many instances the supplier of the weapons and possibly the beneficiary's as well. 

This "storm in a tea cup" is just to appease the Chinese and will continue just like it has been in the future.

Yes, but they have to be seen doing something and now it's announced publicly it will be finished in a few days. 

Of course, any crackdowns on elicit Firearms, will take place at every Police Station nation wide first.

Closely followed by every Military site and installation

Many reports from the past have shown these sources to be among the main suppliers in the Country

Well at least they know the who,what and why.

This is better in my book than Thought and Prayers.

Wonder if they did this in the Deep South.  I bet not.

Does this crackdown include the alleged sale/use of firearms sold or used by Police officers who don't have access to the "Trough" ?

agree .... if it was done in mom & pops hardware store it wouldn't have battered an eyelid,  but because Paragon was the shop it's big time news and wai's aplenty.

Exactly. They obviously knew of their existence to now target them so quickly. So they effectively were complicit in the sale of illegal weapons. But that's the way Thailand operates. Whether something is illegal has no relevance and almost all the time it - anything - is ignored. Only when doing nothing, or assisting in the illegality, blows up in their face do they do anything.
