Help urgent Re eVisa Vietnam.

The way I read it, you have a multiple entry, entries must be in a 2 week period. Doesn't state how long you can stay.

The thing is multi entry visa for Vietnam allows entries for 90 days.

I'm confused because prior to covid I previously obtained many.

This is prior to eVisa.

I have now checked my single entry eVisa I obtained Feb this year and it had the same 14 or 15 day "good for entry from (date) to until (date).

Thinking that means you have 2 weeks to enter .

I'm confused.

Prior to eVisa ...I obtained 4 visits to Vietnam every month for many years.

Now I'm extremely confused.

My last eVisa was single entry that provides a 30 day stay.

Attached is copy of that visa and subsequent snap of my pp.

Why was I only admitted for 14 days .

The date in red circle looks to me ...17/02/2023.

I entered 02/02/2023.

I interpret your current visa as the window within which you must enter is 25 October to 9 November.

In theory you could enter multiple times within that brief window but for most people it means that a multiple entry visa is of no greater value than a single entry visa.

The next question is what leave to enter will you actually be granted.  Right now that is unanswered.

I am showing an interest in this topic because I plan to travel to Vietnam in December.

I'm very confused and slightly upset.

Prior to eVisa I used to arrive in Vietnam with an "approval letter" that enabled visa on arrival.

A one page sticker was attached to pp.

I always obtained Multi.

They work differently than multi in Thailand.

If you enter Vietnam just prior to visa expiry you only receive entry up to visa expiry date.

I have already booked trips to Saigon x 2 and a trip to Hanoi Xmas/new year and one in Jan.

That's 4 in 3 month period, as I did prior to covid.

Very confused with new "rules"

Why did my single entry in Feb seem to indicate 14 day stay.

Pre-Covid, nationals of a number of countries could travel to Vietnam for 14 days, with 30 days in between.

Seems there are now 45-day visa exempt entries possible, e.g. for Western European countries. (I think, I read somewhere that the 30 days in between are not longer required.)

If so, this could be an alternative:

45d + 45d (+14d eVisa) = 104d. Of course, this would require two extra in-outs.

I'm Australian and along with USA cannot enter Vietnam visa exempt.

Always required a visa.

Aw, okay. Then no.

But are you sure this is the actual visa? - "A multiple entries visa allows you enter / exit Vietnam unlimited times as long as your visa still valid. Your multiple entries visa must be picked at the airport when you arrive. After getting your multiple entries visa at the airport, you can exit & re-entering Vietnam at any port s you want."

Perhaps this one just gives you the time-window to arrive in Vietnam for your first entry, and the actual visa is processed at the airport(?) Also, shouldn't a visa bear your name?

Prior to eVisa previously I obtained an "approval letter" on arrival you went to area where the Visas were issued.

They were one page sticker.

So my last visit (Feb) I didn't go to the area I mentioned for sticker.

Just walked straight to passport control and showed print out of my eVisa..

Perhaps that is why I was only stamped in for 14/15 days.

BTW the picture of my eVisa posted earlier was cropped for privacy.

The actual printout has all my details.

I arrived Da Nang on Monday, no visa required as British.

Will return again on 25th with my daughters (Thai, no visa required).

No offense but I'm well aware that MANY countries have visa exempt entry to Vietnam.

Australia and USA do not.

Folk from those 2 countries and others require a visa .

This is how I read it. Presumably if he enters by that date he will be given a 90 day stamp, and then be allowed to come and go as many times as he likes within those 90 days.

It would be helpful if the visa included a little "terms and conditions" section which explained the rules. Wishful thinking, of course...

That's how you would think it would work.

However my eVisa to Vietnam (stamped provided in post earlier)

Showed I was stamped in 2 Feb and given "until date" 17 Feb.

so I was stamped in for 15 days.

That eVisa was a single entry 30 day tourist...90 multi not available at that time.

My current eVisa printout shows enter 25 Oct until 9 Nov

I Fly out on the 25th Oct stay 5 nights.

I suspect I will be stamped in for 15 days.

Another trip into Saigon on 18 Nov.

Seems I will need new eVisa for that visit.

Is it possible they had not seen the eVisa and just gave you 15 days visa exempt?

I doubt it.

No visa exempt for Oz folk.

Also he seemed to check details of printed eVisa against my passport photo page.

Actually as I always advise others..

"Always check your stamp"

Very foolish that I did not.

My sister and bil accompanied me to DaNang from Thailand, no visa, just rocked up, they are Australian but left Thailand on Australian passport and used British passport to enter Viet Nam.

They were questioned at Check In when they mistakenly presented Australian passports.

I only got a 30 days visa right before the new 90 days got into effect, but on my 30 days visa letter it clearly stated the full 30 days written exactly like in the first picture you provided and this were the exact date of my actual visa on my passport.

probably an error I would say, would try to get another one if I were you or try to contact them by email ... if you are patient.

let us know how it goes if you cross the border with this letter.

Thanks for the reply.

Don't have any time to try and find out what went wrong.

I leave next Wed for Saigon.

This evisa I will use to enter has again exactly same 16 day window.

Enter date ....Until date.

No doubt I will be given same 16 days..

I'm only there for 5 days so not and issue however onto Oz for couple of weeks and back to Saigon.

At worst I have lost $50 usd

I might use a Vietnam visa company to obtain eVisa for me.

Damn shame as the eVisa applied is so easy.

Prior to eVisa , Australians had to obtain approval letter and attend visa on arrival desk.

Wish they still had that option now!
