Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin has instructed authorities to charter an Airbus-380 aircraft to fly Thai evacuees out of Israel, in addition to over 30 flights arranged with Nok Air, Air Asia, Thai Airways International and China’s Spice Jet airlines.

There are also six special flights by Royal Thai Force’s Airbus 340-500 aircraft arranged for October, with the first having already left for Tel Aviv early this morning (Sunday). It isscheduled to arrive back at Don Mueang airport on Monday morning after 10 countries, including Israel, granted overflight permission to pick up Thai evacuees from Israel.

After chairing the Rapid Response Centre meeting at the Foreign Ministry this afternoon, the prime minister told the media that, although 32 flights have been arranged with the four commercial airlines, which can fly about 5,700 Thais out of Israel, they are still not sufficient for the over 7,000 waiting for evacuation, with the likelihood that more will apply to return.

THE THAI air force has summoned reservists with experience in flying Airbus A340 aircraft as well as roped in Thai Airways International pilots with similar experience in preparing to launch flights to evacuate Thais from Israel starting tonight (Oct. 14), Naewna newspaper said this afternoon.

As more than 7,000 Thais in Israel have said they want to return home with this total being quite large the air force will be flying several flights to complete the mission.

Although commercial airlines are helping evacuate Thais from Israel, the long distance and the number of people to be evacuated means the air force has to fly several flights but does not have enough pilots for this task, especially Airbus A340 pilots.

A source in the air force revealed that the air force is calling up reservists according to the emergency procedure while many Thai Airways pilots who are familiar with this aircraft and the route have said they are willing to fly with air force pilots.

Well there's at least one ex-Thai Airways pilot who has lots of experience flying this particular model of A340 between BKK - MUC - BKK on a regular basis who should be first in line to volunteer for this mission.

Soooooooooooo slow. If China, Russia or any enemy sailed a warship up the Chao Praya this experience has shown that the only way to confront them would be to get in the queue at the vodka, dim sum and  knock shops when their on their R&R. The gold medal goes to Hungary who operated 3 repatriation flights on the one day,  two Sunday's ago (8+ days).
