Excessive PM2.5 dust in Bangkok on Thursday

PM2.5 in the atmosphere at 7am this morning exceeded the safety standard in 22 areas, ranging from 22.7μg/m3 (microgram per cubic meter per 24 hours) to 49.4μg/m3, averaging 32.9μg/m3.

 

According to the Air Quality Information Centre of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), the air quality in eight areas improved during the morning, leaving 14 areas where PM2.5 in the atmosphere still exceeding safety levels.

 

The areas with excessive levels of PM2.5 are Wang Thong Lang, Pathumwan, Bang Rak, Yan Nawa, Lat Krabang, Khlong San, Bangkok Noi, Sathorn, Khlong Toei, Bueng Kum, Bangkok Yai, Bang Na, Prawet and Serithai Park in Bueng Kum.

That photo looks like the skyline when it is raining.  And today in central Bangkok it poured down - so no dust problem at all.  What is it with dust pollution?  Even in Buriram they have a 'detector' sign up in the centre of the town.  Are they suggesting that the lung issues are to do with dust rather than the obvious reason?

With the tourism drop as prices are increasing all over Bangkok mainly in shops or restaurants, less visitors who will spend. One can have 10 millions tourists from China or Russia who do not spend but that would not help the local economy.
