Paetongtarn, the youngest daughter of Thaksin  Shinawatra, was elected new leader of the Pheu Thai party today (Friday).

Replacing Cholnan Srikaew, who resigned, Paetongtarn, 37, was chosen during a meeting of executives and core members of the party at the party’s headquarters. As Thaksin’s daughter, her victory surprised no one. Her father founded the party.

Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is expected to attend the meeting this afternoon.

    And I thought Thais want wise and experienced leaders. But then again, who did they vote for? The daughter or the father?   Imagine if the father would be sick in hospital and wouldn't

But then again, who did they vote for? The daughter or the father?

Imagine if the father would be sick in hospital and wouldn't be able to make any decisions, and then the daughter must think for herself. Difficult times.

Be it Biden, Trump or Sunak, they all have nominated either family or cronies at top positions. The only difference could be that once ousted from power, the new kingpin in office, put's in his new cronies.

In Thailand, it could be a bit more patriarcal with politics carved on foundations of power and money and tend to remain within the respetive dynasties.

When it comes to politics, very much a same joke all over the world.

The legacy continues.... pulling Thailand back to the dark ages.

So I see.....a few behind the curtain strings being being coerced.

I do not see anybody on this photo that I would believe is a true friend of normal thai people .

I only see people who I suspect not to care much about the many thai people wanting a better life .

They would vote for anything as long as they see an advantage for themselves .

What else could it be?

But she looks nice. This is the main qualification in the Land of Appearances.

"Was told by my wife's friend..."

Must be true, then, uncorroborated hearsay, also known as nonsense, is always safe to go on.

Getting your "twitching curtains" and "pulling strings" metaphors a bit mixed up, aren't you!?

So, it seems, uncorroborated denials of such practice, also known as nonsense - also applies to you then, right?

I didn't post any uncorroborated hearsay, so, no, it does not apply to me in this case.

with the big boss thaksin back in Thailand they all have to do as they are told so they appoint his air head daughter who will do exactly as daddy tells her, shows how pathetic thai politics really are

Yeah right, you better hadn't used the words "move forward" so many times in the interview, because we all know what your goal was

Tony's tried and true recipe:

  1. Put a young pretty up to woo the masses;
  2. Control from the rear;
  3. Mix in with a dolop of 'you see minions we are young and forward thinking too' propaganda;

Let's hope the Thai people won't be fooled again.

And that video interview; she cut that off quick when the journo probed too deep and required more context than just 'move forward', 'for the people', 'do our best'.

This is how everything is arranged: Thaksin leads the party from the background and Pheu Thai's finances are secure!

It was the golden age from most people's point off view.
