A 72-year-old man was fatally struck by a pickup truck while crossing an intersection near his home in Uthai Thani province. The incident occurred on October 27th near the Tambon Khok Mo administration office in Thap Than district.

Upon investigation, authorities found the deceased, identified as Mr. Noi Pakprom, lying in the middle of the road with severe head injuries, reported Daily News.

Nearby was a black Toyota Vigo pickup with registration number KB 4638 from Nakhon Sawan. Its front-left side was heavily damaged.

The 18-year-old driver of the truck stood around 20 meters away beside his damaged vehicle, waiting for the police.

The truck driver claimed he was en route to visit relatives at Thap Than Hospital when he suddenly saw Mr. Noi on his motorcycle trying to cross the intersection. Unable to brake in time, he collided with the elderly man.

Eyewitnesses recalled warning Mr. Noi about the approaching vehicle, but suspect he might not have heard due to familiarity with the area. Preliminary police measures included directing traffic to prevent further accidents. The driver was tested for alcohol, yielding negative results. Officials plan to review nearby CCTV footage as evidence for further investigation.

Story should be titled: "Silly old *** meets 18 year old ****wit"

Bad idea to cross in front of approaching traffic.

Also PU driver looks to have steered to the right in order to continue in front of the MC, rather than steer to the left to pass behind him as he crossed.

In doing so (as I have seen so often in CCTV of Thai accidents) the PU driver guaranteed impact.

Did they ask him why he was on the wrong side of the road?

I guess at age 18 he hasn't learnt the experience to swerve [if necessary] in the opposite direction to that of the moving object you're trying to avoid.

So, at least one person must have shouted a warning to the motorcyclist meaning they saw he was heading for a collision. 🙄

Erm.. huh ???....  The motorcycle didn't hear people shouting because he knew the area ??????

Or is that...  just ignored people shouting as they were all screaming at him but he had no idea what was going on anyway.
