Political Climate To Determine How Quickly Paetongtarn Becomes PM: Anutin

DEPUTY Prime Minister-cum-Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul today (Oct. 29) said political atmosphere will determine how quickly de facto Pheu Thai boss Thaksin Shinwatra’s daughter Paetongtarn Shinawatra becomes the prime minister after she was elected leader of this party on Friday, Naewna newspaper said.

Upon being asked by reporters whether Paetontarn could take the helm of the government soon, Anutin, who is also the leader of Bhumjaithai Party, replied it is not possible to foresee how politics will shape up because it is a matter for each party to decide.

However as Bhumjaithai is part of the coalition government headed by Pheu Thai there would have to be discussions about new policies and guidelines, he said, adding if it is beneficial for the people his party would support it.

I would love to see a survey of PT supporters.

Do they prefer the relatively young and inexperienced daughter of the criminal to follow his orders?

Or do they prefer and older and at least half competent man to follow the orders of the criminal?

Or would they want that the criminal is installed as PM when he is released from prison?

Making the best of a bad situation, I think the "half competent man" shows promise (for now anyway).

Let my Daddy go! He's the real Pheu Thai PM! 😏

From bad to worst

Dada to the wescue

lets pretend that the guy who introduced the cannabis policy would join a coalition with a party dead set against said policy... without a trick or two up his sleeve.

keeping in mind their coalition would of never happened without him.

Jolly Green Giant is likely counting the days. I reckon he can't wait for the day, and I can't blame him in some ways.

He has simply been used as part of the plan.🙃🙃

Wow!

Srettha is already being considered for being thrown under the bus.

It's only been two months, but he clearly is in way over his head, and as is evident by Anutin's subtle jibe, Sethha has little/no power.

Just another few weeks for this bird to brown, then he's cooked.

I missed that one. any links, or could you elaborate?

I really didnt take anutin for the subtle type. his only redeeming quality was the legalising of weed.

If you have a minute it would be appreciated

He was always under the bus.  The only reason that he was made PM was that the senate would not even consider a Shin as PM, and she would have had the same fate as Pita.

If you look at it as has been said the plan is coming together Thaksin is back.  In February he will be free to see how he can get his sister back.  And instead of Zoom and facetime he can run the country from his daughter's office and home.

The only question is will the Sente and the money allow her to take the position or will they decide it is time to coup?

So how could she become PM without the support of the Senate now? (Assumes Srettha resigns, not likely unless someone puts a gun to his head.)

So, Thailand heading cheerfully as always down the path to the next military coup ...

Now that is a first, who does he think he is kidding. His, and his cronies pockets come before anything else, the people are waaaaaay down the list.

She would be a replacement the idea of a deputy is to step in and replace the PM if there is an issue.  Not sure there would be anything the senate could do. BUT AGAIN TIT

Thailand is doomed.

Really a generic opinion by Anutin but adopted by some as a political sage and forgetting his past as a master manupulator. A party leader resigned and a new leader was elected. Paetongtan was elected and 22 other members of the executive committee were also elected. Surely none is surprise by this leadership. Sretha will serve the next 4 years and perhaps even the next if the political situation remain stable. The public is satisfied with Sretha performance and he has being all over the news with his hands-on attitude towards driving the economy. Paetongtan is in no hurry and should allow Sretha's vision to be fulfilled. Disrupting the momentum will be disastrous for the party and brand.

I would love her to become PM. It is only the Shinawatra clan that seem to have any idea of how to grow and economy and how to share out the growth a little more equitable than the army.

Take a look at Thailand's growth in GDP from 1995 to 2022 and line it up with who is running the country at the time., you will see what I mean. And, no I won't provide a link, do some work yourselves.

Having said all that, she will last all of 5 minutes before the next army coup whatever voters may say in any  election.

It gave me a hearty laugh all the nonsense about lack of democracy when PT formed the government here after 2 members of the same family, democratically elected in a much fairer process than we now have, were deposed in army coups.

The script for this soap opera is getting better by the day - it is 21st century though!

Interesting though is that all those dinosaurs refer to all sorts of developments. Unless it got lost in translation, then the name of the game seems to be that the "political atmosphere will determine how quickly Paetongtarn becomes the prime minister.

Wondering if anyone told those dinosaurs in the government house that there is an irrelevant element of equation called "voter" somewhere ........

She looks exactly like her father, but for the lip-stick.

Daddy criminal cannot become PM. He has been convicted and spent time in jail (all 6 hours of it).

IMHO, either way the senate will have to put their money where their collective mouth is or walk away. I don't think that the army will risk another coup now, so soon after the election debacle which showed the senators for what they really are.

Spineless without the support of the boys in green.
