Prime Minister Thavisin said there was no plan to invite Chinese police officers to patrol local tourist destinations, seeking to clear the air after comments by the country’s tourism authority created a public backlash.


He added Thailand wants to cooperate with Chinese police on information exchange about criminal networks that may be active, which would boost the confidence of Chinese tourists,


The newly formed 'Anti Online Scam Operation Centre' froze over 2,000 bank accounts linked to online scams, detected shortly after complaints were received via it’s hotline 1441. Most accounts were suspended within 15 minutes after a victim's report. The center says it assisted some 32,000 people who had fallen prey to online scams during the last 7 days.

 

Police investigating the shooting that killed a female teacher and injured a student on Saturday at Klong Toey in Bangkok believe the two suspected gunmen fled the capital. People in the vicinity have been questioned,  
Police say the shooters left on two stolen motorcycles.

 

Investigators have found no evidence of bribery in the case of the overloaded truck that caused a roadworks cover to collapse on Sukhumvit Road last week. 


Officers say there was no evidence that a windscreen sticker allowed the truck to operate without regard for load weight limits.


The truck owner said the sticker was used to easily identify the truck,
The owner and driver both denied charges of operating an overloaded truck and recklessness, causing injury and damage to property.

 

Migrant workers from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, previously allowed to remain and work in the country temporarily, have now been given an extension of stay while they apply for new visas and work permits.
Once processed the workers will be allowed to stay until mid February 2025.
