Former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has declared his assets to the National Anti-Corruption Committee (NACC), revealing that he is now Bt1.5 million richer than when he first declared them nine years ago.

In the document released by the NACC, it is revealed that Former Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha’s total assets are now worth Bt130.2 million—an increase of Bt1.5 million since his initial declaration to the NACC in 2014.

His assets include Bt13.7 million in deposits in seven bank accounts, Bt64 million in investments in stocks and bonds, two plots of land worth about Bt3.2 million, a house in Soi Ruam Mit off Phahonyothin Road in Phaya Thai district worth Bt3.6 million, four cars worth about Bt10.7 million, including a Porsche Panamera, a Toyota Alphard, a 2011 Mercedes Benz and a 2005 Ford Ranger, five million baht in gold rings, bracelets, chains and nine wrist watches, nine guns worth Bt253,000 and two bicycles worth Bt203,000.

What's the point of these declarations?

Do they include all their offshore assets including the once which are in the names of other people?

And as we can see with the prominent example of the former fugitive: Back in Thailand in a nice hotel hospital room for a few months, and then life continues as usual. How many millions of dollars did he make? Where is the punishment?

On the face of it, this looks like a fairly mild accumulation of wealth over an entire career. Would rather have millionaire Prayuth, who didn't bother with doing much to expats either at immigration or with taxes, than a bunch of billionaires.

After nine years that 130,000 per month would be about 1.4 million.

The only confusion expats are likely to encounter post Prayuth is that smack between the eyes the new tax law interpretation is going to give them. Happy now?

14 million in salary alone never mind the investment income and likely zero personal expenses as PM.

He must have been spending a lot to keep it so low.

130 million I guess it pays to be a general in Thailand and the p.m. all these guys are so crooked. It’s almost laughable as far as the new taxing law. I’m sure they’ve already figured out a way to get around it they need to go back and check all his family accounts. I’m sure that number 130 million is on the low side, TIT

I guess all his other gains are in other peoples names or even off-shore.

You guys are missing it, the majority of his wealth is hidden offshore.

Offshore is where corrupt politicians hide their loot because he can move it and access it at any time without having to declare anything.  Offshore wealth also comes in handy if one has to escape a counter-coup and doesn't have time to sell his homes or cars, or bicycle.

If these figures are to be be believed it points to a relatively  modest accumulation of wealth for somebody who held that position for 10 years.

It almost points to financial incompetence when one considers that he allegedly had investments of over 60 million baht yet only saw a return on that of 1.5 million in 10 years, Seems to have a very modest land holding too   I'm pretty sure he's got a bit more stashed away somewhere, but I seriously doubt it amounts to anything like what some of his predecessors managed to get their hands on

Good morning 😃

So his brown envelopes were FATTER !!! Then others :) 55555 :) Lol :)

TIT !!! :)

He doesn't need to live?? no family no food, no expenses, and no tax payments? and how much did he earn in reality?? Unbelievable story only 1,5 mill more in 9 years

Actually not much .. for a former prime minister - look at the other countries ex ministers ..

Majority of his wealth was also before his prime minister appointment.

Plus accumulated holiday pay paid out when he left 😉

I think he left a couple of 000's off - or maybe he just doesn't remember what assets he has.

Must be a tight squeeze for him now living in a 3.5 million house. Where does he park his cars? Asking for a friend.......

Lost a few zeros in the typing of that declaration

1.5 m in 9 years, yea sure, a frigging pancake seller could save that 456 baht a day, living rent free, and all bills paid. Is he still in his free house, what a crock of BS.

One presumes he was getting the PM wage and his Army pension, even 15million I wouldn't believe, or $1.5m

Unit accountant needs to take a close look at his residence to place of duty motor mileage claims - typical bloody "bean stealer"!

I don't think I have suffered personally as a direct result of Prayut's time in office and I fail to see how anybody else has really. So I find the constant anti Prayut sentiment by a few on here difficult to understand.

It was particularly bizarre at the time of the elections with some posters on here getting very emotional,  whinging on and on about "democracy" and the "will of the Thai people" some even deciding who their wives  "should " vote for and in some cases suggesting that others should advise their wives to do the same  !   all for the praiseworthy reasons of furthering democracy and "dragging Thailand into the 21st century"

I doubt any of those geriatric wannabe  political activists had the slightest idea what any of the political parties really stood for,( Most Thais don't)     But having partially informed themselves via social media and the english  mainstream media, the key board warriors now,   laughingly, felt that they were  qualified to voice their ill formed opinions and indulge in a bit of lefty "pro democracy" virtue signalling

Not unlike the great unwashed currently active in London shouting "from the river to the sea" who when questioned don't have a clue which river or which sea are being referred to, or indeed any knowledge of Israeli- Palestinian history

Several other posters, myself included, tried to suggest being careful what one wishes for, and  that a "better the devil you know" attitude might be more appropriate, regarding who governs this place,  but predictably we were turned on by the usual "woke"  mob,  "fascist" and "junta lover"  just some of the insults I kid you not

So I too hope those tossers are happy now, What with the disappearance of multiple entry Non o visas and the proposed new tax return requirements just around the corner,

One things for sure, they've all gone very quiet

It's not even $5 million US.  Who's going to believe this drivel?

And you actually believe ONE word of it?

He's reported the opposite way of Trump. Prayut grossly understates his holdings (since he can't declare offshore piles of money) and Trump overstates by many billions (in an effort to support his fake business acumen). Both are liars, in the game for only themselves.

So he never seen a Baht of the commision money that has been paid

on all the military equipment that has been purchased over the years .....

He's hiding something. People who stayed here in 2020 might recall that he demanded billions off the big business owners, like Boon Rawd and Thai Bev, just to allow them to start selling booze again during the early days of the pandemic. Of course, it wouldn't be good for Thai politics or the Thai legal system or Thai pride or the anti-corruption drive (the one that was still born, lol) if it came out that he's actually worth ten billion Baht, so this tidy little fiction suits everyone.
