The creator of this map has had the interesting idea to break down that gigantic US GDP into the GDPs of individual states, and compare those to other countries’ GDP.

This one has the GDP values since no one knows the relative GDP rankings of the US states. From the tiny size of the Eastern states, it might look like Russia has a low GDP, when it actually ranks 4th. Thailand in place of Arizona looks large, but is 23rd.

Note it also includes Washington DC separately (New Zeland). For those who don't know, it's the Washington that is the nation's capital and is not a state. There is also a Washington state (Turkey) on the west coast.
