Which bank in Pattaya is the most accommodating for non-citizens applying for a Foreign Currency Deposit Bank Account, and what documents are required?

I have a £ account at BKK Bank, didn't need much to open it being an existing customer.

 

Hardly ever use it, bit of a waste of time tbh.

Long time ago when I opened.a US$ account

 

Proof of address ( Rental agreement )

Passport

US $500

 

Things probably changed now, but you could walk in with those in hand and see what they say.

If your deposit is in cash some of the banks charge you a %age. Standard fees for a TT.

I would suggest the OP look up the others to see what they require - SCB/Kasikorn etc.

 

 

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I have read that the Foreign Currency Accounts, are not covered by the 1m guarantee if the banks go tits up.

Correct.

So the dollar account at all the banks are not secured, but they guarantee if the bank plus

Only if it's in Thai Baht. Not sure what you mean by "bank plus"?

I opened the same at BBL and use it entirely for my visa extension each year. No bank book copies, just a letter from the bank saying no activity on account and current balance.

Solves the issue of account balance over the year.

If you gotta have the funds anyway might as well make it easier on everyone.

Most now  $1000 equiv minimum balance (without incurring fees eating it away).

I looked into this a few years back and the endless fees made it pointless (for me). Every transaction whether in or out incurred a fee.
