The Tourism Authority of Thailand says the country is set to meet its target of 25 million overseas visitors by the end of 2023. Nation Thailand reports that between January 1 and November 25, the kingdom welcomed 24,081,613 foreign arrivals.

According to TAT governor, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, she is confident that Thailand will not only have met, but exceeded, the 25 million target by year-end.

Thapanee credits recent measures introduced by the government to boost the economy and tourism, as well as acknowledging the people of Thailand for being such gracious hosts.

Which is out 55/60% of 2019.

Higher airfare? Confusion on foreigners tax responsibility? Bad press 555..that's easy. What else?

I am also convinced my wallet will grow larger when I visit Thailand..  I would make a perfect TOT employee...

And I am convinced that 2024 will be my year to win a multi-million dollar lottery prize (even though I rarely buy tickets).

They must have forgotten that they were originally quoting much higher figures. All they do is guess and adjust their figures when they see the real figures from other sources. They are a waste of space.

Thank you, thank you thank you.

Come again next year, bring friends.

No one pays real attention to the hyperventilating TAT spokespersons. Maybe it hits 25 million this year or maybe not. The real issue is that the Chinese do not want to visit, a 54000 person survey by Weibo shows that 85% of Chinese travellers do not want to visit SEA. Only 1% of Indians travel overseas but mostly for VFR, so that's not a promising market and most of the western countries have radically changed travel patterns with long haul like Thailand being low down on the list of destinations. Thailand is no longer the gilded child of tourism and is sinking into being a secondary destination.

From TAT's forecast Dept x 10,000!

Anyone been to the airport lately to confirm this assumption.  I hear that the hordes of Chinese expected at this time of the month are not showing up.
