Young women ignore safety warnings at Phu Chi Fah, sparking concerns

Two young women risked their lives by crossing a safety line at Phu Chi Fah viewpoint to take photographs, triggering concerns from officials about a potential increase in copycat behaviour.

Phu Chi Fah National Park in Thoeng, Chiang Rai, reported the incident occurred at 6.04am on October 26, and issued a public warning on their page.

The tourist attraction has implemented several safety measures to prevent accidents, including first-aid-trained personnel on standby from 4.30am to 6pm every day, and safety ropes installed along the edge of the viewpoint and high cliffs. Warning signs prohibiting visitors from crossing the safety lines are also posted. Despite these precautions, some tourists ignore the warnings, forcing park officials to issue reminders to avoid setting a dangerous precedent for other visitors.

Images circulating on the เชียงราย – Chiang Rai page show the two women, believed to be aged between 20 and 30 years old, crossing approximately 3 to 4 metres beyond the safety line to stand on the cliff edge. The area where they stood, surrounded by tufts of grass, is popular with tourists who come to enjoy the mountain views and sea of mist, as well as to watch the sunrise, reported KhaoSod.

Replace the sign with "Danger snakes" works every time.

Put a sign up saying 2K fine for crossing the rope, that could work, it has worked with the "Do not feed the monkeys 2K fine" on one of Koh Chang view points, mind you there is no safety rope at the one I'm referring to. :giggle:

Safety rope? Nonsense, it's a notional barrier.

Erect  a metal fence or lay a concertina of razor wire.

Or Ghosts Live Here. That would do it too.

Why should officials be concerned? Those who want to risk their life for a photo aren't. Up to them.

After this risky and dangerous selfie seeking behavior, the pair hopped on their motorbike and motored away down the mountain helmet-less.

Yeah, but retrieving the remains or sending the idiots for hospitalization gets expensive.

Or just stand back and watch them fall! :whistling:
