Thailand ambulance crew narrowly escapes attack by drug-crazed patient

An ambulance crew had a near-death experience when they were attacked by a patient yesterday, December 1.

The patient’s relatives had obscured information, not disclosing that the patient was in a drug-induced frenzy. The patient turned violent, using an electric saw to attack the ambulance, with no one coming to the rescue. The driver’s quick thinking allowed the whole team to escape without harm.

The harrowing incident was shared on Facebook by a rescue worker, Jojo Chic Chic, who detailed the terrifying ordeal. On November 30, they received a call around 7.45pm from emergency line 1669 about a Thai male who had ingested rat poison and was suffering from severe abdominal pains. Urged by the patient’s relatives to arrive quickly, the team set out with one nurse, one Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, one Basic Emergency Medical Technician, and a driver.

When they arrived at the scene around 8.15pm, they found the patient’s home situated at the end of a narrow, dead-end alley. Several neighbours were standing outside their homes, looking anxious. Three dogs were barking and attempted to follow the ambulance, hindering the rescue efforts. The team could not approach the patient due to the unsafe conditions, hearing a loud bang on the ambulance roof but unable to identify the source due to the surrounding darkness.

Oh, so the electric saw went un noticed when he entered the ambulance??? :whistling: Superb reporting as to be expected, I'm pleased they noticed the 3 barking dogs and their attempt to follow the ambulance, very relevant, Pulitzer material!

He didn't enter the ambulance, he attacked it from the outside.

...this article has obscured information as well

"No signs of panic or PTSD" as reported in Thaiger!  Hmm. Who made that diagnosis??

PTSD can present itself as accute, accumulative, and/or chronic and complex.  It can easily be undiagnosed.  Frontline workers often conceal their symptoms for many reasons (cultural, saving face, expected in their job to confront danger and traumatic incidents, fear of losing job, etc) or not even realise they have it until much later.
