Police used a stun gun to subdue a drunk Thai man after he stabbed a 7-Eleven convenience store worker with a pair of scissors in the central province of Lop Buri because the victim refused to sell him alcohol.

The incident occurred at a 7-Eleven store next to the Lop Buri Provincial Police Office on Phra Piya Road in the Mueang Lop Buri district at about 4.15am yesterday, December 6. Five police officers rushed to the scene and saw the attacker, 33 year old Alepha, causing chaos inside the shop.

The injured worker, 23 year old Suttipong, was stabbed in the right leg and taken to King Narai Hospital by a rescue team.

Alepha unleashed a scream while wreaking havoc at the checkout counter of the convenience store. Despite officers spending about five minutes attempting to persuade him to surrender, their efforts proved fruitless. Consequently, the decision was made to deploy a stun gun, after which Alepha was escorted to the police station.

I think that view is a bit extreme and will never pass muster with the masses.

Stabbing a worker in their place of work because they were refusing to sell a drunk more alcohol outside of serving times is abhorrent.

I want my booze, I need my booze, if you're not going to give me my booze I am going to commit an act of violence against you, because I know I look like a man, and I smell like a man, but actually I'm 13 years old emotionally, I never developed into a an adult, and when I get thwarted I do really really stupid stuff.

So deny me at your own peril!

Another tragic story of the endemic sensless violence which pervades around us here in the land of smiles.

Just to digress slightly and I have asked this question before however, I have never received any answers.

Why are the restricted hours for alcohol sales in place? My memory has faded a bit but I think that it was something brought in under the Taksin government along with banning sales of alcohol from gas stations. There were no reasons given at the time to stop alcohol sales from 2.00pm to pm to 5.00pm, that I can recall.

Does anyone else know why?

It started on January 24, 2015, there are thoughts the restricted hours for alcohol sales was due to school hours:

Thanks for the research metisdead. I don't see any reason given for the restricted hours. School, yes may be. Please explain if I have missed something.
