On December 7, 2023, reports emerged regarding a video posted by a Chinese tourist discussing the alleged dangers of Soi Nana for women.

In response, the Tourist Police, led by Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritwisan Tongwanich, initiated an investigation to verify the claims and reassure the public of safety, reported Siam Rath.

The incident revolves around the vicinity of Soi Nana, specifically Sukhumvit Soi 4, Khlong Toei District, Bangkok. Authorities interviewed staff at Nana Hotel and engaged with local businesses to address concerns raised in the viral video.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritwisan emphasized that Soi Nana is a popular tourist destination with continuous safety monitoring by Tourist Police.

The area also participates in the Strong Tourism Community (STC) project, aimed at ensuring the highest level of safety for tourists.

While acknowledging the possibility that the attention-grabbing attire of a Chinese female tourist might attract interest, the authorities stressed that Soi Nana remains a safe and well-regarded tourist spot.

Tourists expressed confidence in the Tourist Police's commitment to their safety, and officials encouraged reporting any unsafe incidents through the emergency hotline 1155, available 24/7.

This may be the sort of "fake news" the PM was referring to when he mandated a crack-down.

The Police may have to tread lightly, the woman is said to be an influencer in China, so the usual strong-arm tactics/extortion may not be advised.

Are the Thai people in the tourist police all volunteers just like all the foreigners who are all volunteers? How do these Thai people earn money if they are all volunteers? Are they all wealthy rich people?

  • Popular Post

I love seeing Thai police all clotted together like some rugby scrum rather than spread out so they actually cover a "beat"...

"...the attention-grabbing attire of a Chinese female tourist might attract interest.." nowhere in the article does it spell out just what the problem is, but my guess has to do with drunken foreigners (non Asian) figuring all Asian women down there are "in the game" and bothering them.

And so we have the cops photographed with groups of Western white women and friends... Maybe the Thai cop thinks they are Chinese? Not the sharpest pencils in the box

Discrediting Thailand: Chinese TikToker’s distorted info about Soi Nana in Bangkok
by Petch Petpailin

A Chinese woman has been slammed by netizens for discrediting and destroying the image of tourism in Thailand by portraying Soi Nana in Bangkok as dangerous and full of bad people.

A Facebook page, Lui Jeen (ลุยจีน), shared a video of the spiteful woman who is famous on the Chinese social media platform called Douyin.

“Chinese TikToker makes a video with distorted information about Soi Nana. You work and make money in Thailand but you create content to discredit the country. Don’t bite the hand that feeds you!”

The page also provided followers with a translation of the Chinese caption and her words.

Thai police want to ‘interrogate’ Chinese influencer who criticised Bangkok

By Peter Roche

“99% of people on Soi Nana are not good.”

Bloggers beware! Police in Bangkok say a Chinese influencer who posted “negative content” about the capital could face legal action. But they’ve also admitted they’re not sure what form any legal action would look like – given that they acknowledged the woman “has a right to post what she likes about Thailand”.

Phanthana Nutchanart from the Immigration Bureau was referring to a video on TikTok, posted by a Chinese tourist, in which she criticised Bangkok’s Soi Nana as being unsafe for women. The poster has been identified as 28 year old Ziyu Wang, a popular influencer on Chinese social media.

In her video, the Chinese woman tells followers that while standing in Soi Nana at around 11.30pm at night, she was approached by a foreign man.

Look at Defamation against the people fine her then deport the bitch

  • Popular Post

Tiktok brings out the worst in people again. I hope the police find some grounds to deport her, there isn't a shred of credibility to her claim. What did she do, stand there next to one of the hookers and wait until some guy hit on her, then twist the story to her liking?

Any good looking woman who's well-dressed in the Nana area is going to attract attention, what is the big deal, why is that dangerous, what is the issue?

Why such shoddy and inarticulate reporting?

"On December 7, 2023, reports emerged"

Come on... that is almost last year...

Feed-back often entails hearing the truth... nuff said.

At least the police have it all sorted now. Quick work yet again.

It's a Red Light area, what did this trouble-making chinese tourist expect was going to be going on? Maybe she hasn't heard the expression about people in glass houses?

And, for the record, the red light areas here in Thailand are some of the safest of their kind in the world. Safer than the ones in this clowns own country.

I hope the police do catch up with her and cancel her visa - she seems to be working so inspect that work permit too while you're at it.

This TikTok generation are just attention grabbing saddos desperate for some traction on the rubbish they post. And their followers are not much different.

Kick her out.

So anyone who 'Blogs' a negative comment about Thailand could face legal action?

Isn't this taking thing a bit too far?? Not everything in Thailand is perfect?

How about they declare her a 'tax resident' and make her pay taxes on all of her Chinese income.

Even with her face blurred, looks like a fair bit of surgery under there... and why the blurring anyway, if she's a well-known 'influencer'? (Godz, I hate that word!)

What bad behavior? Recording a video stating her opinion is no big deal. Certainly the authorities won't like it. Stalin was intolerant of criticism too.
