I'm trying to gather some information on this as I was discussing it with a friend and we realised we know very little. Ok forget about countries that require Thais to have a visa, what about the countries that dont require one. Is there still a problem for them getting into the country on their own? Meaning they don't need a visa to enter but perhaps they need a certain sum of money or other requirements? I heard that Thais get interviewed and "harrassed" even when trying to enter a country that doesnt require a visa. What countries dont require a visa? I think Malaysia and Korea right but where else?

Singapore is fine but some get questioned ie the 2 week at airport then regular extension to 30 days girls bound for OT or Geylang - I do not know how they pick and choose (number of times etc?) but some get stopped and others do not.

My pals GF nor my Ex never has/had a problem though.

A lot of my Thai colleagues who are mostly girls under 30 come down to Singapore quite often on biz - never ever a problem.

I know one girl who cries out "Pattaya, Pattaya" (she is on a bloody big picture in Walking street I think) gets in with never a problem in a skimpy skirt and dragon tattoo from arse to calf :o

I have only witnessed girls get pulled on the way out personally though????

You speak of Korea - well one of my colleagues was pulled there on travelling on business. This girl is quite wealthy, very respectable and quitea senior role for a very large company. She wears real designer gear no knock off's etc and dresses conservatively.

She was held for 2 hours in a room with 30 other Thai women.

She usually uses a passport from a western country when going there but that as in for a visa for somewhere else so used her thai passport - only time she was pulled

These are just personal experiences from myself and a couple of people I know - anecdotes are not data ;-)

But why do they pull them? To find out if they are coming to work as prostitutes? What did your business friend have to do to appease the immigration?

Because the word is just not equal.

HK is one of the places. I was with 3 cute thai girls(one was my wife) and we spent about an hour being interviewed in a room.

So what if you hadn't been with them? Possibly would have turned the Thai girls away?! What did you have to do to prove your intentions of vacationing?

Hi, it shouldnt be a problem. I guess alot depends on the immigration official.

My wife and I have been to canada, m'sia, s'pore, bali, korea, japan, india, nepal and places in between with no problems. Infact I have had more problems then her.

She even got into Canada without having to do an interview for her visa.

Samran is right; if you have an exit ticket, there should be no problems.

If it makes you feel better, my friend's mum (she is 50, wife of one of the most senior police in Thailand) was also held for 24 hours upon arrival in NZ back when they had visa on arrival. She had about 1m dollars of diamonds Imelda Marcos style on every finger, but apparently this wasn't enough to convince the idiot plods that she was there to visit her two children studying at Auckland UNiversity and (if I recall correctly) Kings College which is about the most expensive poofter private school in Akld; she'd already visited about 5 times but oh no, THIS time she was going to offer herself for 50 bucks a night at the casino like all the other dodgy sluts there.

Good grief.

Anyway, well presented, speaking some english, clear itenerary, non excessive luggage, not looking like a ho from Surin* - all helps.

* ironically it is the few sluts from places like Surin that I've personally seen going straight through customs at Singapore, NZ etc - my aunt always gets pulled up; hel_l she is like 50 years old. White countries I can understand as all Asians look the same, but surely shouldn't Honkies and Singaporean Las, be able to pick out the whores from the mores?

As I said above the Pattaya girl I know could not look more like a Pattaya slapper if she tried - I think she is from Surin as well - or maybe Buri Ram as she has that lovely dark skin ;-)

My Ex was asked a few questions when I was with her when we were on our relocation visit - I had to trot forward and show her the Raffles booking and tickets back in 4 days - she got 15 days I got 30 much to her disgust.

From my experience and others it does seem there are certain Imm officers of a particular ethnic background question more than others - its not Chinese, malay or honkies!

So bottom line they will eventually let you in or can they suspect a woman of wanting to be a prostitute and making her hop back on the plane? Any problems with Thai men?
