Bangkok, 27 December 2023 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) marked the arrival of Neos Air’s maiden flight on the Milan-Brno-Phuket route with a Thai traditional welcome dance and personalised meet-and-greet presented by officials and figures to enrich passengers’ experience with a touch of local culture and renowned Thai hospitality.

Neos Air, an Italian airline, kicked start on the Milan-Brno-Phuket route with Flight NO216, landing at Phuket International Airport on 20 December 2023. The airline will operate on the route until April 2024 with one flight per week.

Presiding over the welcome ceremony, Mrs. Chiravadee Khunsub, TAT Executive Director of Europe, Africa, and Middle East Market Division, said “The event illustrates Thailand’s famed hospitality and warm welcome, while elevating the Amazing Thailand brand and the kingdom’s position as a preferred tourist destination.”

During the December 2023 – April 2024 period, Neos Air’s flights offer travellers from Milan, Italy, and Brno, the Czech Republic a convenient air access option between the two cities and Phuket in Thailand. This is expected to boost arrivals up to 3,750 from Milan and 2,079 from the Czech Republic.

The TAT Rome Office and Italy’s leading tour operator, Alpi Tour, are promoting special tour packages inclusive of Neos Air’s flights between Milan and Phuket for honeymooners, luxury travellers, and families.

Meanwhile, the TAT Prague Office and the Czech Republic’s leading tour operator, Cedok, have launched a joint marketing and advertising activity on Neos Air’s flight between Brno and Phuket.

Statistics showed that from 1 January – 15 December 2023, Thailand recorded a total of 169,160 visitors from Italy. The number is expected to reach 180,000 visitors by this year-end. Italian tourists stayed on average 17.20 days per trip, spending around 70,000 Baht per person.

During the same period, Thailand saw a total of 44,579 visitors from the Czech Republic. The number is expected to reach 50,000 visitors by this year-end. They holidayed in Thailand for about 20 days per trip, spending 63,786 Baht per person.

This is good news for those who want to visit Brno in the Czech Republic, like myself. I wonder what will happen after April 2024 - will the airline continue to operate at a reduced or increased frequency?

Brno is Czechia’s second-largest city and has a mix of historical charm and modern innovation. It is also known as the Czech Silicon Valley. I enjoy beer, so I would love to visit Starobrno Brewery in Brno, which is one of the oldest breweries in Central Europe and has been brewing since 1325. If you’re curious about Brno or other places in Czechia, you might find this guide helpful https://gowithguide.com/blog/tourism-in-czech-republic-statistics-2023-the-ultimate-guide-5565
