On December 27th, 2023, Mrs. Radklao Inthawong Suwankiri, the Deputy Spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, publicly revealed a New Year gift from the Thai Ministry of Transport regarding complimentary travel on motorways and expressways.

The free service of motorways are as follows: Highway number 7 (Bangkok-Chang Buri) and Highway number 9, the outer ring road around Bangkok (Kanchanaphisek Road) from Bang Pa-in to Bang Phli and from Phra Pradaeng to Bang Khae, including the Phra Pradaeng-Bang Khun Thian elevated section.

Additionally, free service will be available on the expressways: Buraphawithi, Kanchanaphisek (Bang Phli-Suk Sawat), and the elevated expressway (elevated expressway level 1, Srirat, and Uthararat) for a total of 7 days, from December 28th, 2023, at 12:01 AM to January 3rd, 2024, at 12:00 AM.

Surely, encouraging drunk drivers and boy racers onto the higher speed motorways during the '7 deadliest days' is contrary to their safety efforts.

Complimentary Motorways should be free   everyday to free up Inner city Traffic Jams, ........I know many people  who  drive through  inner city  because they cant,  or don't want to pay Motorway  fees...

I really wish they would stop this idiocy of referring to everything around this time of year as "a gift to the people", as though the cost won't eventually be paid by those same people via taxes.

I complement the Minister for Transport on his generosity. 😋
