No more free rides on BTS Green Line extensions

Commuters using the two BTS sky train Green Line extensions are being charged 15 baht per trip on each extension from today, after two years of free rides.

The extensions run from Baring to Kheha in Samut Prakan and from Mor Chit, through Saphan Mai, to Khu Khot in Pathum Thani.

Commuters who want to travel beyond the two extensions will not pay the entry fee for the use of the main line from Baring to Mor Chit.

At 15 Baht a pop it's going to take BMA a while to pay off the 40 billion they currently owe BTSC!!

Let's hope they use some of that money to stop the monorail wheels and conductor rails falling off again!

Have they managed to integrate the pricing system yet so it scales fairly, there were oddities before, for example if you went from Bang Chak to Phrakhanong - 2 stations within 2km, you would get charged 15b for the leg till On nut as it went to some other company and then another 17baht to the next stop as that was financed by someone else.  I wonder how the latest extension would work, would be another immediate 15baht if you ventured 1 station into the new the extension, potentially putting some unfortunate people at 47baht for just 6 stops.

The yellow line and pink line monorails need to be shut down for months to conduct a full inspection, replace any faulty junk parts bought off Lazada, and fire the crony engineers and managers who got their cosy jobs thanks to nepotism.

If the brakes fail there is no Siam Spiderman to stop it.

Think of the extension, that was flat-fare B15 between Bearing and Onnut, being extended south to Kheha. Now 15 baht for any part of that extension as far as Onnut and what you pay from Onnut to Phrakanong (and by extension, ha ha, anywhere from Kheha to Phrakanong) will be the same as it was previously.

so stay off the BTS as well? Skytrain has more than 30 sets of China-built trains and they don't seem to fall apart.

Mind you, the ride on the yellow line is so rough I am hardly surprised bits are beng shaken off it.

Fact; There was a story a long time ago, about a freight train I think it was, literally fell over while standing still. Maybe it just fainted in the heat  :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:
