Government Ramps Up Influenza Vaccination for Health Safety

BANGKOK (NNT) - The Public Health Ministry has announced plans to distribute 200,000 additional influenza vaccines to public transport and tourism workers in 31 provinces. This initiative, aimed at curbing influenza spread, follows a year with 472,222 reported cases and 29 deaths.

Heavy smog has engulfed 48 out of Thailand’s 77 provinces, rendering the air quality unsafe due to high levels of ultra-fine dust. As of this morning, Tuesday, January 9, 21 provinces reported red-level air pollution, a serious health threat.

Burmese teenager hangs herself at Phuket workers’ camp

A 19 year old Burmese woman has been found hanged at a workers’ camp in the sub-district of Kamala. The Phuket News reports the girl’s parents believe she killed herself to “spite them”, after they refused to buy her expensive cosmetics.

The incident, which occurred at 2.18am today, was reported by the Saraburi Rattnatraysathansuan Rescue Foundation. Bangkok child rescue: 8-year-old escapes brutal treatment

A shocking incident unfolded in Bangkok as an 8 year old child was rescued and immediately placed in a children’s home following harsh treatment by his grandmother. The child was reportedly forced to starve and eventually driven out of the house. The authorities also revealed the boy’s 10 year old sister is still living with the grandmother, whose fate remains uncertain.
