On January 17th, 2024, Mr. Somboon Muangklam, the advisor to the Thai Minister of Justice, and relevant officials held a press conference regarding Mr. Thaksin Shinawatra’s case in dispute.

Somboon publicly revealed that Thaksin was receiving medical treatment outside the prison for more than 120 days, however, it was following the procedures of the Director-General of the Thai Department of Corrections.

“Reports must be approved by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice and Minister of Justice after receiving medical treatment outside the prison for 60 days and 120 days, respectively,” said Somboon.

In the case of Thaksin, the 136-day (as of January 17) medical treatment at Police General Hospital met the current criteria and complied with Thai law, remarked Somboon.

Mr. Sitthi Sutivong, the deputy director-general of the Thai Department of Corrections, mentioned in the case of parole that it was a right for inmates to be scrutinized by each prison commander.

Please spare those with an IQ higher than a slug all this nonsense.

I wonder if they force Thaksin to watch all of this drivel.  That would be a cruel and unusual punishment.

Ministry of Justice.... nuff said

How lucky Dr T must be - the 30 Baht health insurance covered the 13? days stay so far as he has no access to an ATM machine and credit cards are possibly not ideal in a prison hospital run by the police ...........

This act is nothing more than sanctioning the abominations and a lip service.. please spare us the insults...

The small problem with that is he has not been to prison

Does anyone know where he is now? Has he been formally released?

It will be interesting to see how they manage the reveal, in the final episode of this Lakorn, when that happens. Maybe a bedside interview, where he can be made to look tired and 'recovery'.

How soon before he's back to his arrival condition? A few months?

Three decisions from yesterday showed that this country currently has no rule of law to uphold.

Note how to do things:

It is the advisor to the Justice Minister, not the Justice Minister, talking about following the procedures of the Director-General of the Thai Department of Corrections. And it is the deputy director-general of the Thai Department of Corrections, not the Director-General, commenting on parole procedures.

All the comments I have seen about Thaksin are from underlings, never from the guy actually in charge...

Paroled?! So he is being paroled from his 5 star RTP Hospital Suite to his mansion? The poor soul......all Heil the second coming of our Emperor Thaksin, bow peasants!

Possibly some of the middle ranking functionaries would like to claim a place on a certain "distribution list"?

The guy who IS in charge can't be named on the pain of death if you're game to go down that path.

Its so happen that the holder of the heights chair in the land has paroled him, so when one

has these kinds of clouts and connections, the rest can do nothing...

enough bribes paid for this comical show... no visitors, so was he even in the police hospital ?  with billions at hand, was it just a  doubleganger ?

Why is that a problem.

Many people found guilty do not go to prison.

Me for example.

Well, isnt that the same guy who said taksh1!t was a model of peace?

Easy to get away when the justice is one of his corrupt cronies

More like the people have been beaten into submission... conclude "What's the point?" They've protested, often being shot by the army in large numbers. They've tried elections: both Tak and his daughter were elected but that didn't shield them from being overthrown by the army and big money. The last election should have (in a democracy) resulted in a meaningful change, but you see how the will of the people was firmly ground down.

Why stick your neck out if it's just going to get chopped? The people aren't stupid
