What would be your reasoning for suggesting that they spend the money on helicopters instead of planes when they, obviously, cannot do the same jobs?

And pray tell what job do we need fighter jets for in Thailand?

This is vitally important, it is a near emergency situation with Thailand surrounded by threats. Malaysia, Cambodia, and Burma are such threats. Thailand must stay protected at all costs even if it ba

To equip the air force, obviously, same as any country with an air force.

My idea is that the French Rafale, second hand, would be perfect for Thailand. While Nato should force France to buy at least 100 F35s. EU countries with Britain should operate at least 500 those.

Why not force France to buy Euro fighters.. as they are part of NATO and the EU?

USA can help out as an ally with F-35's if they wish.

Don't be ridiculous, as I said and you obviously can't answer, why does Thailand need fighter Jets, who do they need to defend themselves from ??, unless they are planning to invade someone. It's all just for show.

Thailand is a country that entered into a formal alliance with Japan in 1941 to avoid being invaded. Just wash and repeat every perceived threatening nation.

Nonsense, Rafale is slightly superior to Eurofighter, but both are a generation behind the F35 system.

I often think that the US was on the wrong side of every SE Asian country it tied itself to after World War II. Without the US, Thailand would have looked like Laos does today. And after all is said and done the Thais ally with China. Keep American fighter aircraft out of Thailand. The US has been donating military arsenals to SE Asian despots since the fall of Saigon (1975), to mad mullahs in Iran since the overthrow of the Shah (1979), and to the stone age Taliban since the Central Asian collapse in Afghanistan (2021). No need to give more advanced military gear to a country that may well be shooting at the US when its sponsor invades Taiwan.

Block me?  Oh, no, please don't do that, you know the adverse consequences it'll have on me, don't you?    Oh, hang on a minute, blocking other members has no effect whatsoever on anyone except you!   Fill yer boots!

Is Thailand not an entity?

Typically countries are invaded for their resources, are you suggesting that some neighbor might invade Thailand for its rice and shrimp?

Glad that they do produce some natural gas but is it enough to prompt an invasion by other than a desperado like China? If China invades all bets are off, a few jets are not going to help. Who else is the threat in this region, come on please give us your dissertation.

Please read some history books, will you? China had saved Thailand's ass twice. First time was after the fall of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. China attacked Burma from the North which forced the invading Burmese army to retreat from Siam. The second time was during Vietnam's invasion of Cambodia, which was putting Thailand at risk. China attacked Vietnam from the North which forced some Vietnamese forces to pull back from Cambodia.

Both Myanmar and Vietnam had been at war with Thailand many times in the past. China? Never.

What happens to the fighters that are being retired?

The Americans may love their F-35 variants, EU countries have their own options to choose from and they are all very capable with an affordable price tag.

It is not a matter of frivolous nationalistic shopping, Europe will become the battlefield against the Russian and Chinese threats and the only  suitable response will be an integrated  NATO force, F35 with their advance networking capability being one of the enablers.

They had massive deposits of lithium last month!

Just do a double deal with the Chinese .....  get the Fighter Jets from China & the submarines in the same deal.

Buy 1 get 1  type of deal .....    i'm sure the Chinese will be interested.

Maybe the USA will offer some F-16 A's which are gathering dust somewhere.

Special offer price

Not the F35 discussed previously?

The money will come from selling off the canal or rail freight link project to foreign investors.

Huge mistake, that could make Thailand a rich country

China doesn't need to invade Thailand.

It is slowly buying up the country and there is no collateral damage to clear up either.
