Pheu Thai leader Paetongtarn Shinawatra admitted today that she is worried that her father, Thaksin, may be arrested for violating royal defamation laws in 2015.

 

Thaksin, currently convicted and jailed on corruption charges, could be released on parole later this month, given his age and medical condition.

 

Thaksin has been charged with lèse majesté and an arrest warrant was issued. He is yet to be indicted, however, because he was in exile abroad when the initial charge was filed. As such, it is possible that he will be re-arrested if he is freed on parole.

Paetongtarn’s Puzzling Statement On Thaksin’s Lese Majeste Questioning

PHEU THAI LEADER PAETONGTARN Shinawatra today (Feb.9) made a puzzling statement about her father/de facto party boss-cum-convict at large Thaksin Shinawatra, saying he has already been questioned by public prosecutors over lese majeste charges and is anticipated to literally return home.

 

Paetongtarn told reporters that public prosecutors have already questioned her father, who has been currently staying at Police Hospital, on lese majeste charges over his verbal statements earlier made abroad in alleged violation of the draconian lese majeste law, also known as Section 112 of the Criminal Code.

 

Her latest comment apparently contradicted with news reports that police attached to the Technology Crime Suppression Division and public prosecutors attached to the Office of the Attorney-General had awaited a yet-to-be-held questioning of the de facto Pheu Thai boss-cum-convict to whom no visits have been allowed by anyone other than his family members, given  privacy reasons for the privileged patient who has been staying at Police Hospital in lieu of Bangkok Remand Prison for more than five months now.

So she is worried that the criminal convict will go again to jail. So sad.

Who will play now with her kids? Who will tell her what to do in his party?

It must be really hard for her. She was so used to special treatment for her father for his whole life. 

He'll buy his way out, like he has done all his life.

As an aside, a country having a constitution doesn't ecessarily make it a democracy.

Former PM Prayut referred to Thailand's democracy as having "Thainess" to distinguish it from Western democracies. In effect distinguishing Thailand's democracy from the personal freedoms and safeguards that emerged in the formation of Western democracies. 

He should'nt be hard to find!

How can he go home? He is dangerously ill and needs specialist medical care....doesn't he.

is she's trying to drum up some sympathy for her father that boat has sailed. Millions would be delighted if he was arrested and removed to a proper jail. Just wishful thinking . Not much chance really of this corrupt family being accountable  to the laws of Thailand

They will just hold this threat. If he violates his agreement with the powers that be then they will indict him. If he keeps to the agreement then he will not be indicted.

 

It will be interesting to see if his various "honors", which took years to strip away, are restored. They probably will as he gets closer to the end of his life.

 

The next step is to repatriate Yingluck.

 

 

 

 

 

If he is accused of breaklng the lese majeste law, then he must be arrested and tried in a court of law like everyone else. It matters NOT, who he is.  If found guilty,he must be subject to the same punishment meted out to all the others.

No naivety there. I am saying what should be done, knowing full well that he will get off scot free!. Thailand is full of double standards and will never change. Who you are, who you know and/or money  are all that is needed.

If the old man does not behave the way the Neaderthalers say, then he will be in hot water. If he behaves and dances to the tunes of their whistles, he should be fine. Question now is the apparent position of his face but only he can answer that. 

So, if really unclear, then  Paetongtarn Shinawatra will have to consult with the father-of-all-politics, like with almost everything else going on these days at the Parliament House 😉

I could agree with you on that IF only every general involved in a military coup were put on trial for treason against the state and executed.

He was just part of the corrupt system as they all are, he just did better out of it than most. Blame the system not him.
