Income Tax On Income From Abroad

Featured Replies

I am planning to work freelance for agencies based abroad via the internet and getting my pay transferred into my Thai bank account. Will I have to pay tax on this income?

Depends on if you get legal and have aWP or not..

Technically you need one but as they have no self employed system the obstacles (forming a Thai company, multiple Thai driectors, WP hassles, employees etc) are non trivial..

If you just work illegally.. Then its kind of hard to declare earnings and pay tax on illegal work !!

I'm trying to work through the same issues . . . I'm considering continuing

paying tax and NI in the UK as an option.

It's ok being "under the radar" until someone finds out!

There are benefits to being "legit"...PR application for one.

If you are a Tax "Resident", the answer is yes.

Taxable Person

Taxpayers are classified into "resident" and "non-resident". "Resident" means any person residing in Thailand for a period or periods aggregating more than 180 days in any tax (calendar) year. A resident of Thailand is liable to pay tax on income from sources in Thailand on a cash basis, regardless where the money is paid, as well as on the portion of income from foreign sources that is brought into Thailand. A non-resident is, however, subject to tax only on income from sources in Thailand.
