webfact
Pattaya — Pattaya City has partnered with Dynamic Group Products to spearhead a comprehensive improvement project aimed at addressing flooding, utility issues, and revitalizing the beachfront area of Jomtien Beach. The ambitious initiative, divided into four phases, will involve the installation of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipes beneath the road surface and the relocation of existing structures for improved functionality and aesthetics. Phase 1 kicks off the project with the installation of 1,725 meters of HDPE pipes stretching from the Tops Daily convenience store to the Jomtien Sub Police Station Branch at Dong Tan Curve. This phase has a completion timeframe of 14 months. Phase 2 focuses on a shorter 555-meter section, laying HDPE pipes from the D Varee Hotel to the Tops Daily convenient store within 5 months. Phase 3 expands further, covering 1,990 meters and reaching Soi Na Jomtien 19 over a 17-month period. Finally, Phase 4 constructs a drainage system near the D Varee Hotel, requiring a 24-month construction timeline. That's great but do something about the fireworks and noise at night! 2 2

I know it is a stock picture but are they dreaming of miles of beach lacking shade. Drainage pipe installation, because it has worked so well everywhere else! Popular Post bkk6060
Ha. Good luck Jomtien 2 to 3 years of construction at an already over crowded roadway/beach. Should be a major S show. 1 2

Popular Post mikebell
All three phases scheduled to start on the first day of High Season for the next three years. No completion date is possible as this work is never-ending. 1
johng
Years of never ending road work as soon as it its finished at one end they'll need to start again at the beginning...like painting the Forth bridge.
Popular Post Emdog
"...pedestrian walkways along Jomtien Beach will be enhanced, trees will be planted, and new drainage points will be constructed near the boat ramp area." The powers that be come up with these dubious projects every 4-5 years it seems and they all have a common feature: making the beach road experience worse and worse. They tore out absurd number of wonderful shade trees that stabilized the beach and provided shade in the last go round. Replaced with useless palm trees. They replace nice interlocking pavers with useless paper thin concrete that were ruptured withing the first storm season. The handicapped access near soi 7 washed out in first storm, was bulldozed under. The insipid wide steps acted like a fake cascade, creating mini canyons that had to be filled with giant sandbags. If one goes back 20 years or so, there are photos of what a lovely place beach road was before it was "improved" And now this. At least wait until storm drains on 2nd road are finished! I wish there were a way that decision makers could simply get the brown envelopes from projects without actually having to tear the place up. Take your ill gotten gains, but hands off any more "projects" 1 2 2

I read it as starting 1st March, but looks like a 3/4 year project, so plenty of high season disruption Thing is, part of the charm of Jomtien is how it is right now IMHO 1 1
jippytum
These makeovers happen every few months and alternate between Pattaya anf Jomtien. Lots of disruption without any improvement. 1

Kevin Taylor
Does anyone actually think Jomtien beach needs "fixing ". I understand the officials desire for stuffed brown envelopes but howabout send the contractors to fix roads that actually need fixing and leave Jomtien alone there's nothing wrong with it as is.
