Should be easy to find out if you tap into someone with statistics.

That sort of information is public knowledge.

Someone on here is bound to know.

I might be wrong but i don't think any of the stats i've seen, splits it down as far as the gender. I have only seen stats from Gov't websites, for how many Tourist Visas, Student Visas and Settlement Visas are applied for and issued. Not seen anything on whether Male or Female, young or old.

Well, last year 1377 people came from Thailand to Norway. and the number have been more or less the same over the last 3 years. 93% of all Thai women in Norway are married with Norwegian men.

With about 20000 marriages (there where 10000 divorces) over all in Norway last year, thats quite a percentage of all marriages, and Thailand tops the statistics for marriages with a foreign spouse.

Thailand's culture trains Thai ladies to take care of their husbands. They do pretty much control the family and the husband. To take them from Thai society to a western society in my opinion is a great risk. Their western sisters quickly train them to have western ideas. If you want a Thai wife and want her to take good care of you, I'd suggest that you stay here in Thailand with your bride. Why take a chance?

That's a pretty insecure way of looking at things. I'd like to think my marriage is solid enough that it doesn't rely on the fear of her obtaining any type of knowledge. :o

Trying to keep your wife sheltered and ignorant just out of fear she may develop independent thought is pretty pathetic IMO.

So far we've survived living in three different countries quite well. :D

Dont know that it matters....because for every one that leaves....there are more that are willing to take her place.

The risk in taking girls from Thailand to other countries is dependant on the intelligence of the man taking the girl...

The guy who goes for a two week holiday and falls in love with the first girl he sees/beds, and marries her is asking for trouble...

The guy who takes time to know the girl over a number of years and develops a deep relationship will have less trouble.

It took 11 years for me to meet the girl I eventually married and a further 3+ years to establish a relationship with her....and I had to win her over as well. A relationship takes time to develop and both sides have to sacrifice and take risks to do that.

How many leave each year...thousands all around the world...

Interesting that about .004% of Thai women marry Norwegians. :D

Yeah, the Vikings (me included) seem to love Thai ladies. :D According to the Swedish Statistics Agency, 2752 Thais (almost exclusively women married to Swedish men) emigrated to Sweden in 2006. This figure has been rising steadily during the last years.

Worth mentioning here is perhaps also that Sweden has a population of about 9.1 million, while the figure for Norway is about 4.6 million.

Regards

Edit/ I should have included the following facts: Out of non-European countries, Thailand came in second place (in 2006) regarding emigrants to Sweden, only beaten by Iraq (9456 people).

No, it isn't. Because you don't know how many of those 1377 people are coming just for an (extended) holiday, 'just' visit the boyfriend, or other purposes. I.e. it's 1377 arrivals, not 1377 marriages.

These where de facto immigrants to Norway. People who came to stay. Not tourists.

You are right in that these where all the people that came. Includiing children and men. In 2004 according to statistics there where 600 marriages between an ethnic male Norwegian and a Thai female. Assuming many of those brought their children to Norway (not unusual for a Thai girl to have a kid or two before she meets her "hansum man have good heart"

The statistics also only show those that actually got married in Norway within the borders of Norway. The rest could be those that married in Thailand, and later brougt their Tahi wives in on family visas.
