Returning to Thailand on a Tourist Visa?

Recommended Posts

'There Off' (said the monkey as the train ran over his nackers.)

It's Sunday. 🙂...anyway, We're off for a few months (not sure yet) outside Thailand.

My present Retirement Extension is until May 2024 and we may not be back in time to renew it.

I have an O retirement visa with the B80000 in the bank version.

Can I come back on a Tourist visa and go to my Kalasin Imm. office and redo my Retirement Visa?

Would I get a Visa On Arrival, or what's the best to do for an old fella like me?

Thank you.

Yes, you can do that (the standard 30-day visa exempt on arrival) and then change it to an o visa at immigration, then extend 3 moths later based on retirement. Think it's form TM 87, 2000 baht. However, they can be funny with doing that nowadays (depending where you apply), so I would advise to either get back early and do your extension, or pick yourself an o visa outside Thailand.

OP you  can enter visa exempt or with setv.

You can then obtain a non O based on retirement at immigration.

Requires 15+ days remaining on entry stamp.

Use TM86 for tourist visa entry or TM87 for visa exempt e try.

You require 800k on day of application.

That gives you 90 day stamp.

In last 30 days obtain 12 month extension.

As you already have Bank account etc visa exempt entry will be fine .

This thread outlines procedure.

Sorry @DrJack54 , bit thick and old.

So I fly in with a completed TM87 and give to Imm at airport?

Then go to Kalasin with the Retirement O application, bank book etc.

(Your response didn't show up, I had to search for it)

The TM87 has nothing to do with entering Thailand.

Immigration at the airport will just stamp you in visa exempt 30 day stamp.

TM87 used at your immigration office when applying for non O (retirement)

@carlyai > Easiest option is to enter Thailand VisaExempt (without a Visa) which will provide you with a 30-day Permission to stay stamped in your passport by Thai border-immigration.  And then apply at your local Imm Office for the 90-day Non Imm O Visa for reason of retirement, when you still have at least 15 days left on that Permission to stay (note that at CM they require 21 days, and at Phuket it's 15 business days).

But be aware that on check-in for your flight to Thailand, that airline-staff might (and probably will) require that you show an 'onward flight' to an international destination from Thailand at a date prior to the expiry of the 30-days Permission to stay yu will receive on entry.  That shouldn't be a problem as you can buy a fully legit flight-reservation for 16 US $ at onwardticket.com or other flight-reservation service provider.  As such genuine reservations are automatically cancelled by the provider of the service 48 to 72 hours after issuance, it is recommended to make the booking the night before departure to Thailand, and the reservation will be sent immediately (or with a few hours delay) upon payment by credit-card.
