Expired 5 year driving licence renewal, Banglamung

Hi all,

I've slipped up here.  My driving licence is due for renewal in April.  I'm currently in The UK, and not back in Thailand until July.

Will I be able to renew the licence in July, or will I have to start again.

Thanks in advance for any information.

You can renew your license up till 12 month after expiry.

Be aware most offices now require you to provide certificate of residence

Thanks for the info; my blood pressure is back to normal now.

A doctors medical certificate is required for each license.

I hope you are OK.

They will accept photocopies of the COR and Medical if renewing car + bike.

For places eg CW that have a form to fill in just tick car to receive the COR.

The medical certificate for a 5 year renewal is another relatively new requirement.

If renewing both licenses the majority of DLT offices accept photo copies for the second license, this includes certificate of residence and every other document.

However TIT so it is certainly possible for a particular office to require originals so no one persons experience is any guarantee that your experience will be the same.

A yellow book and pink card are often accepted, they have been for the last 6 years for my licenses.

 At Banglamung office ?

I thought that was always the case.

It has been for the Banglamung office  others seem to have accepted  yellow book or work permit instead.

Even if you slip up  just present your UK licence  then all you need to do is the eyesight, reaction tests and maybe watch a video...you also always need a medical and residence certificate if using Barnglamung office.

Those adverts are a con and the Police have already made announcements telling people not to fall for it.

As well as being illegal, just why would you go that route when the legal way is fairly straightforward with just a few hoops to go through, then you are fine for 5/6 years.

Would someone please explain how you get the extra year?

the license is valid for 5 years after your next birthday and expires on your birthday, so apply 1 day after the licence expires and you get 364 days + 5 years
