Hi all,

Did a routine weekly scan and Avast found this (se picture).

Now I remember a while ago a post from someone claiming that a certain ISP installs a backdoor when using their SW.

Anyone else have this?

Ok, I am gonna send them a mail asking why they do this or if they are even aware.

I let you all know the outcome.

Cheers,

Alex

Oh god, here we go again...

No offense to you Alex, you're right to point this out. It's just that this issue was a bit dramatic last time around iirc...

The end result will likely be the same - This Is Thailand. No one's going to be accountable or apologetic. It's like telling the operators of the local net cafe that there's child porn on the desktop and 37 viruses. No one seems to really care, and it will still be there next time around.

Just my 2¢, now less valuable thanks to baht inflation.

As I told you I will post all reply to my question so here it is.

Dear Khun Alex,

True would like to apologize for any inconvenience and we would like to thank you for informing the information.

Regarding the issue of unable to install Hi-speed Navigator Program. We would like to inform you about reasonable why you unable to install Hi-speed Navigator Program, due to the Virus Program reports that Hi speed Navigator has a backdoor Trojan. In fact there is not Trojan but the run.exe Program is script for command the cab.exe maudial.exe setuphsn.exe file for automatic installation file. In case the Virus Program reports that Hi-speed Navigator has a backdoor Trojan, due to run.exe file run Program resemble Trojan function so there is error as you receive it.

In case you would not like to use the run.exe Program for automatically opening a script, please follow the process as follows:

1. To open Drive C: >> Program Files >> True >> Hi-speed Navigator >> Software.

2. To click the cab.exe maudial.exe setuphsn.exe file and arrange files for installation as picture shows.

If you still have the same issue after following the recommendation, you can inform more information at www.trueinternet.co.th. We are glad to inform you we going to deal with this issue immediately.

True Sincerely,

Subject Trojan in True Navigator software?

Hi,

During my weekly anti virus scan my anti virus scanner came up with the

message that your software contains traces of a trojan named Win32

Beastdoor-BE (see attached picture).

Yes, last saturday I installed your software and now I am a bit worried.

Could you please explain why True is providing a CD with software needed to

get connected with a Trojan?

Kind regards,

Alex

Unfortunatly TRUE will not do anything!

Just don't run or install the Navigator. TRUE has modified the original software from Billion for them own use.

Read my old post and you have all answers.

Bump. Can their Billion or Huawei modem be installed without True HSN? Can you just manually setup your connection?

Been using True and HSN for some time now without a thought until I stumbled on this thread.

If your modem is an TRUE modem Router with TRUE modified Firmware, you can't modify it again.

The work around is to use an virgin, Non True modem router which you can program to your own use.

Cheers.

You can use True without installing their Hi Speed Navigator (been doing so for ever).

To install their modem you need their installation packages which is something different of the Hi Speed Navigator, and hopefully virus free.

I wouldn't take that risk!! Just spend a bit above THB 1,000 for an virgin new modem router and be safe!

Cheers.
