Bangkok Governor Pushes to Settle BTS Debt of 14 Billion Baht After Court Dismisses Case
I never understood government's resistance to pay the debt that was clearly contractual and enforceable. I don't recall the amount of the original debt but the interest rate for nonpayment built up quickly. The governor and city counsel should personally bear the cost of interest (ie., not passing it on to citizens through any taxation or budgetary reductions). And/or perhaps resign. -

Pickup Crashed on Route to Village Loan Processing in Phichit: 2 Dead, 1 Critically Injured
In an incident on November 10, two individuals lost their lives, and one sustained critical injuries when a pickup truck, en route to Phichit Province for village loan processing, veered off the road and crashed into a tree. The accident occurred on Highway 117 in Moo 5, Noen Po Subdistrict, Sam Ngam District, Phichit Province. According to Deputy Inspector Surasak Onchu of the Nong Sano Police Station in Phichit, authorities received notification of the incident, which took place along the Nakhon Sawan-Phitsanulok route. Upon arriving at the scene, police and emergency responders found the wrecked pickup truck with two fatalities and one critically injured passenger. The injured individual was identified as Ms. Rampheung, 46, who was trapped in the vehicle and required extrication by rescue teams. The deceased were identified as Mr. Somkiat, 45, the driver, and Mrs. Mui, 51. Rescue personnel used specialised equipment to free Ms. Rampheung, who was then transported to Wachira Baramee Hospital for urgent medical treatment. An initial investigation revealed that the group of three, including Mr. Somkiat, the driver, had departed from Bangkok around midnight, intending to reach Wang Mok Subdistrict in Phichit for a village fund loan application. The crash occurred when Mr. Somkiat reportedly fell asleep at the wheel, causing the vehicle to swerve off the road and collide with a tree. The investigation in the collision is ongoing. Director Responds to Outcry Over TV Series Treatment of Cat
Picture courtesy: Thai Rath Following widespread outrage among Thai netizens, director Sant Srikaewlao has clarified the situation regarding a black cat featured in the TV series "Mae Yua" (The Empress of Ayodhaya). Concerns erupted after scenes emerged showing the cat anaesthetised, experiencing convulsions, stiffness, and vomiting. Social media users questioned whether these actions violated the Animal Cruelty Act, sparking a campaign under the hashtag #MaeYuaTorturesAnimals. Animal lovers and veterinarians voiced their disapproval, highlighting the inherent risks of administering anaesthesia to animals, which can suppress respiratory and circulatory functions and potentially lead to choking due to the inability to control vomiting. In response, Sant took to Facebook to address the burgeoning controversy. He posted a detailed explanation and shared a video clip to demonstrate that the cat is now in good health. He explained that while anaesthesia was indeed used, careful precautions were taken, with the cat being attended to by its owner and professionals throughout the process. He assured viewers that the cat recovered swiftly post-filming and is now living normally, reinforcing his claims with video evidence. Understanding the depth of public concern, Sant provided an additional video clip today to further attest to the cat's current well-being. He emphasised that his production team has not overlooked public sentiment and is actively gathering information to provide clear explanations. The director’s clarification aims to alleviate concerns and reaffirm the show's commitment to animal welfare, amidst ongoing discussions about ethical treatment in entertainment settings. As discussions persist online, this incident underscores the delicate balance between creative endeavours and humane practices in media production, reported Thai Newsroom. -- 2024-11-11 -

British Man Injured in Pattaya Road Rage Incident with Thai Driver
I don't blame him, the Thai's are so small up against these OBESE, tattooed foreigners. Imagine how scary it would have been for the Thai guy, to get a weapon to defend himself because he was terrified. Come down to soi Buakhou one day and see for yourself, daily you'll see a drunken foreigner yelling and screaming at another driver from his vehicle
