New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon is scheduled to make a three-day official visit to Thailand next week, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Luxon will become the first New Zealand Prime Minister to visit Thailand in 11 years. For his 16-18 April trip, he will be accompanied by Simon Watts, Minister for Climate Change, and Paulo Garcia, a Member of Parliament, including concerned officials and representatives from the private sector.

During his visit, Luxon will hold a bilateral meeting with his Thai counterpart, Srettha Thavisin. Both countries are expected to sign a series of memorandums of understanding to further strengthen their relations and cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Luxon’s visit provides an opportunity for both countries to deepen mutual cooperation in all areas, especially in defense and security, economy, clean energy, innovation, education, culture, and people-to-people cooperation.

NZ has, recently, amended their visa qualifications in an attempt to control the ingress of foreign workers. No doubt this will be discussed and result in a reasonable cost for a Tourist Visa to a NZ national wishing to visit Thailand.

Time for Christopher Luxon to raise the issue of visa prices for New Zealanders who go to Thailand. New Zealanders pay 5 - 7 times the price of anyone else.

Show us the proof please.

I have always entered visa free at no cost. Last visit January, no charge. Maybe other nationals are getting paid to enter Thailand 🙄

This is the visa fees schedule at the website of the Thai Embassy in Wellington. Pages 1 and 2 are in Thai. Pages 3 and 4 in English. Compare them with the prices any other nationality pays for a visa.

That information is incorrect.

Tourist visas are not free.  The printout from the Thai Embassy in Wellington NZ is correct.

Visa exempt / visa on arrival is free.

2 different visas.

So Luxon is visiting... Oh yay!

The 2 smiling clowns are going to get together and accomplish the same as usual.... nothing.

Really? That is the information currently posted on the Thai embassy website. Do you know better than they do?

I’m slightly incorrect, but so is the information posted. Kiwis automatically get a free 30 day tourist visa on arrival in Thailand. The fee listed on the embassy website is for longer visas (which fact it omits).

Once again, you're wrong. New Zealanders get a 30 day visa waiver.

Never been asked to pay a fee.
