A 46-year-old man was apprehended for attempting to rob a woman and assaulting her at a department store's car park in the Rangsit area. The victim, identified as Ms. Jutharat, aged 36, was attacked as she was getting into her Mercedes Benz sedan last evening.

The suspect, Mr. Kantinan Kulsriroj, threatened Ms. Jutharat with a 30cm knife, intending to steal her handbag and car. Police were able to apprehend him swiftly at a nearby mall in the Pathum Thani area thanks to the surveillance footage from cameras in the lot.

Inspector Pol. Lt. Col. Wichaya Pan-ngam of Chulalongkorn Pratunam provincial police station stated that Kulsriroj was found hiding in the back seat of his wife's car, with the knife from the robbery still in his possession. He had reportedly contacted his wife and asked her to come pick him up from the mall, but the police found him before her arrival.

Kulsriroj confessed to the crime, stating that he had an argument with his wife two days prior and left home. His gambling addiction pushed him to attempt the robbery.

Ms. Jutharat informed the police that as she was getting into her car, the attacker held her at knifepoint. Realising she wasn't alone, she called for help from two nearby men, provoking Kulsriroj to attack her.

She however escaped a serious injury when the knife hit the waistband of her pants. After startling the attacker with the car's horn accidentally, she sustained a slash on her cheek before he ran off with her bag. She managed to retrieve her handbag after a short chase.

Poor lady. Possibly scarred for life thanks to that nasty little man.

Glad that he has been arrested.

What is always missing in such reports is te follow-up.
Will he get a slap on the wrists and send back on the streets the same day?
