In a candid admission,  Rishi Sunak has acknowledged the possibility that the Conservative Party may not secure victory in the upcoming general election, citing recent setbacks in local elections. Sunak's remarks come amidst growing concerns within the party regarding electoral prospects and strategic direction.

 

Referring to an analysis by election expert Professor Michael Thrasher, Sunak highlighted the likelihood of a hung parliament, with Labour emerging as the largest party. A hung parliament is not a candid admission. It's a deluded fantasy.

 

I wonder if he's just saying this to try and keep his MPs spirits up (most of whom know they're on for a drubbing), or if he actually believes it himself?

He’s trying to put a positive spin on the news Braverman has hung him out to dry.

 

 

If there is any semblance of reality in the suggestion that a hung parliament was a possibility, it shows just how undemocratic and unfit for purpose our electoral system is. 

Opticians in the vicinity of Tory Party HQ must surely be rubbing their hands in glee at the roaring trade they're doubtless now doing in new pairs of specs with rose-tinted lenses!
