Thailand has been selected to host the World Union of Wholesale Markets (WUWM) annual conference for the first time in Southeast Asia. The conference, which will take place from May 15-17, 2024, at The Athenee Hotel in Bangkok, highlights Thailand's standing as a key agricultural center. Participants will also tour Talad Thai, the largest fully integrated wholesale agricultural market in the ASEAN.

Saudi Arabia's health and wellness tourism sector is expected to benefit greatly through planned collaborations with Thailand. Concurrently, hopes are that more skilled Thai labor will find work in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Commerce Minister, Majid bin Abdullah al-Kassabi, met with Thai health officials at the Public Health Ministry, including Minister Somsak Thepsuthin and Permanent Secretary Dr Opas Karnkawinpong. The purpose of the meeting was to talk about ways to bolster their public health partnership.

The former prime minister of Thailand, Thaksin Shinawatra, has tried to intervene in the civil war in Myanmar. He did this by secretly meeting with groups opposing the military regime. Irrawaddy online reports that these moves have not sat well with any of the parties involved, including Myanmar's military leaders.
