Trump has really been on a roll lately, knocking up a veritable plethora of broken promises, deal retraction, falsehoods, fantasies, and theatrics. Ukraine was dangled the prospect of producing Patriot interceptors, only to see the licence pulled back at Camp David with talk of “hard to give away” technology and cartoonish “bing bing bing” sound effects. The reality is Washington’s own stocks are depleted with two‑thirds of interceptors already expended in the Iran campaign, with Lockheed Martin pocketing a $58.6bn replenishment contract. On Gaza and Israel, his “genocide” charge ignores the coalition’s hard line: no withdrawal until Hamas disarms. His Iran commentary with claims of a hollowed‑out military, vows to “hit them very hard”, and comparisons to Vietnam or Afghanistan, lands more as sales pitch than strategy. Five months of shifting goals hardly counts as decisive. Taken together, it’s a familiar formula: bold pledges, quick retreats, and bravado masking logistical limits. Ukraine unsettled, Israel unmoved, Iran unbowed. The gap between Trump’s words and the ground realities remains wide and hollow - just like the void between his ears.
