Nakhon Si Thammarat: Husband Accidentally Shoots Wife, Flees on Motorcycle
An incident unfolded in the Ratchaprapa District of Nakhon Si Thammarat when a husband accidentally shot his wife, resulting in her tragic death. The suspect fled the scene on a motorcycle, leaving police in pursuit as they continue their investigation into the circumstances. The shooting occurred on the evening of October 13, Police Lieutenant Colonel Phongwut Wutipong, an investigator at Ron Phibun Police Station, received a report of the incident at an unnamed hut in Moo 8, Ron Phibun Subdistrict. Upon receiving the report, Deputy Superintendent Phaithoon Intrapiboon and the local investigation team, accompanied by a medical examiner and the Siam Ruam Jai Foundation, arrived at the scene to investigate. At the location, the lifeless body of 40 year old Ms. Wasana, a resident of Moo 3, Prik Subdistrict, Thung Yai District, was found. She had suffered a fatal gunshot wound from a .22 caliber firearm between her neck and chest. The shooter was identified as her husband, 40 year old Mr. Chatchai, a resident of Moo 10, Ron Phibun Subdistrict, who had fled on his motorcycle before police arrived. According to nearby residents, the couple had been living in the hut while working as hired labourers on a local farm. Witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot before Mr. Chatchai ran to neighbours, claiming he had accidentally fired the gun at his wife. Despite calling for help, by the time authorities reached the scene, Ms. Wasana had already succumbed to her injuries. Mr. Chatchai vanished from the scene before police arrived, and efforts are ongoing to locate him for further questioning. Police have yet to determine the exact cause of the shooting and are working to gather evidence and witness statements to uncover the truth behind the incident. The police remain in active pursuit of Mr. Chatchai, who is still at large, and have called for any witnesses or those with information to come forward as the investigation continues. Sounds like an emergency exit seat, I've read some airlines charge you extra. You should have spoken to the other passengers around you who had window seat and swapped. -

Rising Tensions on the Korean Peninsula as North Korea Threatens Strikes Over Drones
Was reading in another article that the drones were carrying leaflets. What kind of child threatens bombs and war over a leaflet? It seems as of late that N. Korea has been fortifying the neutral zone and sending balloons full of manure and waste to S. Korea. This tit for tat strategy is only escalating tensions there between the 2 countries. -

12-Year-Old Girl Drowns in Kanchanaburi River, Body Found 15 Kilometres Away
An incident unfolded when a 12-year-old girl drowned after being swept away by strong river currents in Sai Yok District, Kanchanaburi. The girl, identified as Fa Waree, had been playing in the water with two friends before being pulled under by the current. Her body was discovered 15 kilometres from where she had initially disappeared. The incident occurred on October 12, when Fa Waree and her two friends decided to cool off in the river at Hat Khwai Beach in Wang Krajae Subdistrict. Despite the strong current, Fa Waree was the first to enter the water. Her friends, who remained on the shore, watched in horror as she was quickly swept away. Though she attempted to grab onto floating branches, the force of the water proved too much, and she disappeared before their eyes. Fa Waree’s friends immediately ran to alert their parents, who then contacted the local rescue team from the Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation. A search operation was launched, with hopes that the girl might have been washed ashore along the riverbank. Unfortunately, the search extended overnight with no success. At approximately 10:30 on October 14, rescue teams finally located Fa Waree’s body near Wat Wang Krasae, 15 kilometres from the original site. Authorities retrieved her body from the water and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. This tragic incident occurred just a day after another drowning in the same area, where a 25-year-old man lost his life after being swept away while swimming. His body was recovered shortly after. Kanchanaburi Rescue Foundation volunteer, Khwanchai Teerasin, urged parents to be extra vigilant during the school holiday season, warning that drowning accidents are more frequent, especially during the rainy season when river currents are dangerously strong. He emphasised the importance of keeping children away from rivers and ensuring they do not play in the water unsupervised. Picture from responders. -- 2024-10-15 -
