is it possible to make a collect call from thailand/bangkok to the uk i tried 3 different international operators they all said it was not possible

i,ve been told by my bank in the uk [call receiver] that it is possible but they dont know how does anyone have a method of doing it also how common is it not to be able to make collect calls through an operator ?
