The Prime Minister of Bhutan, Dasho Tshering Tobgay, began his formal visit to Thailand on June 25. He landed at Suvarnabhumi Aiport and was heartily received by a Thai government team led by their Deputy Prime Minister, Pichai Chunhavajira. This four-day visit, lasting till June 28, is the first by a Bhutanese Prime Minister to Thailand in over ten years, and it marks the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relationships between the two countries.

The trip offers a chance for both nations to find ways to boost their relationship by increased teamwork in trade, investment, tourism, and education. Two agreements on tourism and healthcare are set to be signed during the visit, showing the shared interests of the nations in these important areas.

During his visit, Prime Minister Tobgay will have detailed discussions with his Thai counterpart as well as meetings with other significant Thai officials including the Assistant Foreign Affairs and Tourism and Sports ministers. He will also meet with representatives from Thailand's private tourism and airline sectors.

Additionally, the Bhutanese Prime Minister is planned to give a special lecture at Chulalongkorn University. This will provide an academic viewpoint on his diplomatic mission and promote deeper cultural and educational connections between Bhutan and Thailand.
