Well, its been policy for as long as I can remember, and I was an Entry Clearance Officer in 1976, 1978 and 1987, and worked in British Embassies and British High Commissions overseas from 1999 to 2010. I have no idea what you mean by "an American Company" having had the contract for visas. There has never been any company or organisation (American or otherwise) other than the UK government, issuing UK visas. -

I actually think Trump and Vance are doing a great job together and they shouldn’t change a single thing in terms of their current approach and strategy. Their bumbling campaign efforts, together with all their continued gaffs, missteps, and their ongoing racist and misogynistic comments, are all helping to hand the election to Harris on a plate. I also think everyone was very relieved that Trump didn’t take on a useful running mate. Though no one ever expected Trump to actually choose someone that would help contribute to his downfall when there were some better options. But truth is stranger than fiction and do bless Trump’s attraction to weirdos. So we should all be thankful for Donald’s continued campaign buffoonery and his disastrous VP pick who can’t even be trusted to be left alone in a room with a full bottle of mascara and an empty, comfortable looking couch. -

Avoid conflict as far as you can. If it becomes obvious you cant calm the situation then strike first, strike fast and strike hard. But to answer the question probably yes. You can always get an unlucky punch but in general yes I can look after myself. -

They have killed a human being for goodness sake, so there should be no pussyfooting around. What's wrong with now? - before somebody else gets killed? Surely an emergency decree could be rushed through Parliament? No more pussyfooting around - just ban them, like they've been banned in several countries already!!! -

Schengen Visa Question
Yes the 2 visas are separate entities, unfortunately now out of the EU Brits have to pay for family Schengen visas, I was about 4500 baht for the visa and VFS fees earlier this year. I would suggest getting the UK visa first, it is a bit more involved and takes longer. I have done 4 Schengen visas for my wife and they are relatively straightforward. In May we went to UK for a month and during that time had about 10 days in Europe. Went across on the Eurostar and on to Luxembourg. Spent 6 days going along the Mosel valley to Koblenz and then back to Brussels.- 1

I think you might be onto something. In US people might freak out if you were fueling with the engine running but there is no way they are turning ”cellphones” OFF and suspending their messaging.. Mostly self serve. This must happen millions of times per day, no explosions Planes fuel all the time, of course the electrical system could be active, on APU or ground power unit, with passengers onboard. We could even fuel with one engine running, That would be rare. Other than jetbridges in place the only restriction is prohibiting transmitting on HF radio while fueling. A bonding strap is always attached , to ground to earth. Why do petrol stations not use them? -

A couple of weeks ago they made some announcement about becoming a hub for travel to the neighboring countries. That made me scratch my head because that's exactly what Thailand was for decades until they changed the regulations only allowing 2 land border crossings a year. -

I agree , there is a category in the Evisa system that allows you to get a initial 3 month Non O retirement with the requirement of a pension(I'm thinking 800K in my Thai bank might suffice) and of course the Non OA which I don't want So i'm going to see what the IO says at Buriram, a friend has just done his extension there and says they were easy to deal with(I used to live in jomtien and used Chonburi) I regard the marriage extensions as too much hassle and am happy when I come back to just use 800K -

Thailand Integrates Online Sales into VAT System; New Measures Announced
They can force Lazada and Shopee to add VAT to stuff ordered from their Thai websites but shipped from China but I don't see how they can do that to overseas vendors, such as Aliexpress and Temu. They said somewhere they will have to register a presence in Thailand too but there again, I don't see how to force that. Thailand doesn't have extraterritorial jurisdiction in China. All it could do to enforce this, if foreign vendors don't comply, is to ask the foreign government to pass a law obliging firms to register for VAT in Thailand, if they export there. They still have the ability to tax the goods when they arrive in Thailand but that would involve opening everything to check whether VAT charged or not.
