Udon Thani Police Conduct Dramatic Manhunt to Rescue Kidnapped Woman Held for Ransom
Picture showing the arrest of two of the suspects. In a tense operation, Udon Thani police successfully raided a gang of four loan sharks involved in kidnapping a woman for ransom. The victim, Ms. Sasithorn "Tim" (53), was abducted in place of her younger sister, who had an unpaid loan of 200,000 baht from 2018. Ms. Tim, an innocent party, was taken hostage by the gang, who demanded a ransom of 170,000 baht. The victim sustained serious injuries, reportedly from being beaten with a gun. The incident first occurred on 8 September at 11:30, when the gang stormed Ms. Tim's home in Ban Phia Pu, Udon Thani Province. The group, including the leader Mr. Buppaj Ritmaha (40), his daughter Ms. Jirapriya Phakphin (36), and two accomplices, forcibly abducted Ms. Tim and fled in an orange Nissan Navara pickup truck. The police swiftly organised a task force of 30 armed officers and tracked the suspects to a remote area near a forest close to Wat Tham Sai Bat temple. After a tense chase, all four suspects were apprehended, and Ms. Tim was rescued. She was found severely injured from being beaten and is currently receiving treatment at Kumphawapi Hospital. Ms. Tim’s mother, Mrs. Daeng Singhkhon (79), was devastated by the kidnapping. She explained that her youngest daughter, Ms. Chabathip, had borrowed 200,000 baht in 2018 while working in Turkey. However, it was Ms. Tim who was taken hostage despite having no involvement in the loan. The kidnappers had initially demanded 170,000 baht for her release but later reduced the demand to 30,000 baht after Mrs. Daeng negotiated. Unable to pay, the family sought police assistance. Ms. Tim's brother-in-law, Mr. Phichit Parasombun (48), confirmed that he and his wife had borrowed the money to pay off agricultural debts. He expressed frustration that the original lender was now in jail, and the debt had been taken over by Mr. Buppaj, who had aggressively demanded payment. Police Col. Ratpholchai Phensongkram, head of the Chaiwan police station, explained that the suspects would be charged with kidnapping for ransom. He praised the swift action of the police teams in resolving the case within 28 hours. Ms. Tim remains in critical condition, suffering from brain hemorrhaging due to the violence she endured during the kidnapping. Pattaya — A 33-year-old Thai man in Pattaya is seeking help to track down thieves who stole his motorcycle worth over 200,000 baht from his residence. On September 8th, 2024, Mr. Kamol Hiransiri, 33, complained to The Pattaya News and provided CCTV footage to assist in tracking down the suspects responsible for the theft of his red and white Honda CRF 300 motorcycle. The theft occurred late at night at his home, located in the Nongprue sub-district, Banglamung district, Chonburi province. After the theft, Mr. Kamol filed a complaint with the Nongprue Police Station and handed over the CCTV footage as evidence. They take me by the hand, sit me down at a desk and the lady enters the information I gibe her at a terminal. Ten/fifteen minutes later she prints out the receipt and the job is done. Write down the income information you need and do the calculation beforehand so that you know what the bottom should be and double check it with what she prints out. If for some bizarre reason she one day refused to do the above, go to a tax accountant and tell them the same thing, the cost up here is under 12k baht. If Bob in the village can't do those things, he shouldn't be allowed outside his home country. -

A heavily pregnant woman and her Chinese husband had a close call on September 9, when their car plunged into a pond after she accidentally stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake. Both managed to escape safely from the submerged vehicle. The incident occurred in the Wang Takhian sub-district of Kabin Buri, Prachinburi province, when a 30-year-old woman, eight months pregnant, was driving with her husband. They were attempting to turn the car around when she mistakenly pressed the accelerator, causing the car to speed into a nearby pond. The pond, covering an area of over 3 rai (about 1.2 acres) and with a depth of 4 metres, quickly engulfed the vehicle. The couple managed to swim to safety and walked approximately 400 metres to seek help from a nearby roadside vendor. Rescue services were immediately contacted and arrived on the scene to assist. The pregnant woman, identified as Ms. Wannarat (surname withheld), and her husband were transported to Kabin Buri Hospital. Ms. Wannarat was admitted to the emergency room for a thorough check-up to ensure the safety of both mother and unborn child. According to a local vendor, Thaworn Kumchan, who was the first to assist the couple, the woman explained that they had been searching for a rental house and decided to turn around for another route. However, as she made the turn, she accidentally pressed the accelerator, causing the car to plunge into the water. Rescue divers were dispatched to retrieve the vehicle, which was submerged at a depth of 4 metres. They successfully pulled the car, a yellow MG sedan, from the water. The front of the car had sustained significant damage. Authorities believe the woman likely shifted gears incorrectly and pressed the accelerator instead of the brake, leading to the accident. Fortunately, her quick thinking to instruct her husband to open the car door allowed them to escape before the vehicle fully sank. Ha, 5 bucks, that's how much you find on the floor. My 19yo daughter works part time, while at uni, she gets 22 bucks an hour. You're a shift working adult, I reckon 40 or 50 an hour. Then you have your superannuation, that's another 10% plus growth. I'm with cbus, it's earning me minimum 10% pa. You're loaded Georgie, stop trying to make me sad, come back to Pattaya soon mate.
