The family of Simon Robinson, a British man, is appealing for help after he went missing whilst returning from Thailand. Simon was last heard from on 26th July before boarding a flight from Bangkok to Helsinki. He was supposed to catch a connecting flight from Helsinki to Manchester, but he never boarded the second plane.

 

Simon’s sister, Sarah Robinson Dale, confirmed he was on the flight from Thailand but did not take the connecting flight. Distressingly, his phone has been switched off ever since, and there has been no contact with family or friends.

 

Simon Robinson, a 27-year-old from Skegness, Lincolnshire, was initially scheduled to fly back from his holiday on 3rd August. However, he contacted his girlfriend to inform her he would return early. Concerns grew when he failed to show up, prompting his family to spread the word about his disappearance.

 

Ms Dale has created a missing person poster in both English and Finnish, hoping it will generate new leads in Finland. The family has also launched an Instagram page, @findsimonrobinson, to raise awareness and gather information, reported Sky News.

 

Simon is described as 6ft 2in tall, of regular build, with brown hair and blue eyes. His disappearance has left his family in a state of worry and uncertainty, urging anyone who might have seen him or has information on his whereabouts to reach out.

 

For those in the UK with potential information, they are encouraged to contact the police on 101. If you are outside the UK, specifically in Finland, you can reach Interpol in Helsinki at +358 295 480 181.

 

The family hopes that with the help of the public, they can find Simon and bring him back home safely.

Sounds to me, like that he doesn't want to be found.  So he was never missing in TH.  

 

Left a public area, an airport, obviously not under duress or threat of life, as no weapons allowed, and he's not a small person.  

 

He'll be found when he wants to be ... IMHO

And who is posting on AN? They have gone out in the news, which makes AN snap up on that as they deliver news. They have also contacted authorities in both Thailand, Finland and UK.

 

He flew out of Thailand via his earlier than planned departure flight to Helsinki... best go look for him there.

Just leave the poor guy alone.

And in other news ... hundreds of people have gone missing in the past 24 hours globally.

Have they actually confirmed he got on his BKK flight, or are they counting on a post from "a user"?  Any updates from the Finns, or the airline, or any vetted officials in Thailand?

 

A user, identifying themselves as Pol Rithikrai, who works for Thai immigration confirmed Simon had boarded Flight no. AY142 on July 26 at 05:46 am. But despite the crucial update, Simon's whereabouts in Finland are still unknown.

That's rather weak sauce if that's what she's basing her assertion on.  If someone wanted to throw the search off track, seems like posing as an immigration employee and posting that he's left Thailand would be a good way to do it.  And I'm a little skeptical of an Immigration employee posting confidential information like that in a public forum, and not through official channels.

Why is this still Thai news if he has been shown to have left the country? He has either met a Finnish chick while on holiday or he had 8 hour flight suffering from post Thailand blues and is waiting for the next flight back here and doesn’t want to listen to his family trying to talk him out of it

You'd think the airport could have clarified he left Thailand same-day the news broke.

He left Thailand but did not take the flight to the UK so he did not leave the airport to entry to Finland I suppose otherwise they would have recorded the arrival in the Schengen area.

 

He lost track of the first plane so he must have had two flight destinations and when he arrived in Helsinki he took another flight, in fact when he was in the airport for another flight connection they no longer check your passport, only when you get back on a plane with another destination the airways compagny check if your passport corresponds to the name on the flight ticket so even a false passport with a different name is fine.

 

When he then arrived at his destination his original passport came out and his whole plan worked perfectly.

 

Therefore it is clear that he deliberately wanted to lose track of himself for his own personal reasons by going to another country and not to the UK and his family did not interest him in the slightest.

Airports or airlines don't disclose personal information to anyone but the person, unless it's a police inquiry. So far there has been no official inquiry or even a missing persons report.

What a headline? He took a flight. That's proven.

So there are no cameras all over that Helsinki ariport to say where he went? 

 

No need for a visa but he would have had to go through immigration still or am I missing something?

 

I'm no Sherlock but to me he is either in that airport somewhere or in the country.

 

 

(edit: I see he is safe and called the family......but no word on where he called them from or where he was yet)

The only flaw would be airport cameras watching his every movement and the whole plan proceed.  Maybe he forgot that.

Kind of strange to post story like this without telling whether the guy has gone thru passport control to Finland or boarded a flight from Helsinki airport to somewhere. For sure Finnish authorities can tell that right away.

The family vented their fury at police in the UK and Thailand, accusing them of not helping.

Sarah, from Barnsley, told South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner, Alan Billings, in a complaint letter: "As Simon’s sister, I feel neglected and unsupported during this distressing time."

 

What a load of pathetic children... oh diddums.. the UK Police were not there to hold his sisters hand... quick, declare a national emergency...
