agent to renew driving licence
My agent has a doctor who rubber stamps the form. I spend more than enough time seeing doctors for other health issues, I don't need to lie on a table, have a doctor poke my belly, then sign a form saying I'm fit to drive. -

Breaking an Engagement to a Thai woman, does she keep the ring?
You can legally apply for compensation for property bought in your Thai girlfriend's name under the promise of marriage that was purchased with your funds. In the legal calculation of assets the cost of the ring may be included. This would certainly apply if deceit of the recipient was proven. -

Does anyone here MISS serious writing? Instead of simple posting on the Farang Pub?
Dear Folks, I don't know about you, but I do miss my days of serious writing, and I mean TIGHT writing. I say I miss those days but... Tight writing is hard work, and I am now too old for it, I think. Are you now too old, too....? One thing amazes me is that Philip Roth was able, at the ripe old age of 83, to write his last novel....NEMESIS...a book I think is spectacular, and one that most resonates with me. And then, you gots your Herman Wouk, who was still writing serious stuff at age.....100....but....I think that the Sailor and Fiddler was nothing compared to Roth's last book. I think most of you may not have read my last novel, but I admit it was not nearly as good as any of Roth's, a writer who was unfairly passed over for the Nobel. Anyway....the question of this Topic is: a. Do you miss your days of serious writing...TIGHT writing, but not writing when tight? b. At your advanced age....are you still UP to the challenge of writing HARD? Or, now knowing that you might be over the hill..... And no longer able to write as well as you might wish.... Do you think....being unable to write as well as you once did..... Should you, like Hemingway.... Take to the Shotgun, loaded with BirdShot? Someday, before I get much older.... I plan to return to my serious writing. And, I just wonder.... Do you, too, hold out this hope that you will, someday soon, return to your serious writing.....rather than.... Continue to post simple comments on TV's Farang Pub? Just an idle question, but also a question of some consequence and import, .... maybe..... Best regards, Gamma -

Neighbour's Chilling Discovery: Foul Odour Leads to Shocking Find of Decomposing Body
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. The discovery was made in Udon Thani after neighbours followed a foul odour emanating from a nearby house, leading to the grim find of a decomposing body inside. The deceased, identified as Mr. Thanakrit, 60, was found naked and is believed to have been dead for over a week. Police were alerted to the scene at 10:30 on September 15, following reports from concerned neighbours. Lt. Nattawat Ladawan, a deputy investigator at Udon Thani’s city police station, responded to the call, accompanied by medical personnel from Udon Thani Hospital and local rescue volunteers. The incident took place in a two-story house in a suburban area of Udon Thani. Upon arrival, relatives and neighbours had already broken into the house, suspecting something was wrong. Inside, they found Mr. Thanakrit’s lifeless body on the living room floor. There were no signs of external injury or struggle either inside or outside the house. It is believed he had been dead for at least a week. His father, Mr. Amporn, arrived at the scene to perform a traditional ritual, lighting incense to call his son's spirit home. Neighbour Suwanna revealed that the foul smell had been lingering for days. Initially, she thought it was the odour of rubber from a factory about 10 kilometres away. However, the smell intensified, leading her husband to clean their trash bins, thinking the odour came from there. The truth was discovered when Mr. Thanakrit’s relatives arrived and decided to investigate the house. "His house had been locked for days, but the lights were still on. When they broke in, the stench was overwhelming, and they found his body," Suwanna said, visibly shaken. She also mentioned that Mr. Thanakrit had lived alone since separating from his wife, and had previously owned a dog, which she had not seen in some time. “I had no idea he had passed away inside. I’ve felt uneasy for days, smelling that foul odour. Now, I believe his spirit was trying to let us know," she added, recalling that she had also heard voices outside her house late at night, further deepening her eerie feelings about the incident. Mr. Thanakrit’s sister, Sumarat, shared that her brother was a direct sales worker who had lived alone since his divorce. His two daughters lived in Bangkok and abroad. Although they communicated regularly through messaging apps, she had not heard from him for a week. “I last spoke to him on August 23, his birthday. He was still in good spirits and even visited our father recently. When I couldn’t contact him for a week, I grew worried.” Authorities suspect that Mr. Thanakrit’s death was due to complications from a pre-existing condition, as he had suffered from a stroke in the past. His body has been transferred to Udon Thani Hospital for further examination, after which it will be handed over to the family for funeral rites. -- 2024-09-16 -
