I am coming in Oct. for 3mos. Submitted visa application to Thai Embassy in Washington DC. A staffer phoned me to request more papers, amongst them a travel itinerary which concerns me. 2-3 different residents will be hosting me part of the time, but I anticipate having creative space to be spontaneous in my movements part of the time as well.

Is this just a formality? I can create one, sure, but am I going to run into trouble if I'm in Chiang Mai when my itinerary says I'm to be elsewhere? Will my hosts experience difficulty if I'm not with them based on this itinerary?

I also requested 4 re-entries in my application. The staffer told me they will cost me $30 each and suggested I reduce this number to 2.

Any advice on the itinerary question will be greatly appreciated. This site is an incredible resource! :o

Believe they want to know why you will require multi entries if only spending 3 months here. So you need to provide plans for travel to other countries and return to justify the issue of such. They are not interested in a detailed list of cities you plan to visit in Thailand - just your travel to/from and returns. Very few 4 entries are issued. 2 or 3 is normally the max.

Thank you....very useful! I will be staying with a friend in Chaiyaphum which near the Laos border. I know she would occasionally go into Laos...and said that could be something we might do together, so I was thinking to be prepared.

So, I think I shall make up a "possibility" itinerary for forays into Laos, Myanmar and Malaysia...and leave it at 3 vs 4.....and hope they don't ask for visa documentation for those visits!
