I totally agree that the fake bank statements must be checked and if so abolished, but on the other hand Thailand wants to be THE place to retire, but is doing everything to discourage people. Why are fake bankstatements used? Probably because the people want to live here, spend money but don't have enough income or savings for a own solid visa. But are they criminals?? No not at all Millions of Thais are living of far less than 65k a person a month if retired or 40k a month when married. But for an unknown reason foreigners must have so much income/savings, a person even, although they contribute a lot to economy. But Thailand is not satisfied, not even willing to adjust laws or rules.. I remember that I was at an immigration office and an elderly couple was sitting at the desk. They could not extend their visa as the couples income did not meet the 130.000 THB a month and they did not have savings to compensate. The man stated at the immigration officer: " I bought a house here of 3 million, and a car, all my furniture, How can I possible have more money in the bank??" And I believe that is exactly the reason why there are fake bank statement. If you only look at what is in your wallet and not what is been spent or brought in the country, you will miss a lot opportunities. People like this couple will tell others who will choose other destinations to retire and those people have also already a not happy feeling of welcoming. Thailand should wake up and open the eyes that not the most important thing in life is money. The own people have to live with much less and compared to Vietnam, they have an advantage that they are dealing with such things
