Ceiling Collapse at Auditorium During Academic Event Leaves Teachers and Students in Shock

Picture from the scene of collapse.

In a shocking incident, the ceiling of the auditorium in Kham Khuean Kaeo District, Yasothon Province, collapsed during an academic event, leaving the venue engulfed in dust. Teachers and students attending the event were thrown into panic, with four individuals sustaining minor injuries, including scratches and cuts on their heads and dust in their eyes.

The incident occurred while the auditorium was being used to host an exhibition for the "Sufficiency School Evaluation," part of a learning centre initiative aligned with the principles of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy in education. The event was attended by Lieutenant Anusit Buahung, the district chief of Kham Khuean Kaeo, along with evaluation committee members, school administrators, teachers, and students.

As the evaluation guidelines were being presented, the ceiling unexpectedly gave way, crashing down with a loud noise. The unexpected collapse caused widespread panic among the attendees.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the collapse was caused by the accumulation of pigeon droppings, as a large number of pigeons had taken residence above the ceiling. The added weight, combined with the aging structure, is believed to have led to the ceiling's failure.

Lieutenant Anusit Buahung commented on the situation, acknowledging that the auditorium had been in use for many years and had deteriorated over time. He noted that a budget request for repairs had already been submitted and was awaiting approval.

So the pigeon <deleted> caused the ceiling to collapse - nothing to do with a bad design in the first place ?

At least it wasn't an academic event related to architecture and construction

And why the hole left to allow the "rats of the sky" to get in under the roof in the first place.

Bad building design or bad building ?

In the Big C Extra Mall on Pattaya Klang there is a huge damp patch directly above the escalator leading up to Home Pro, it drips  water after a heavy rainfall. Anywhere else the area would be cordoned off till repairs were carried out or are they waiting till it comes crashing down ?

The answer will be when the ceiling falls down and injures people, I don’t see it as a 5555 either.
