A 43-year-old woman was shot in the forehead with a shotgun, on September 9, while waiting for a bus to her factory job. The authorities suspect the attack was carried out by her ex-husband, driven by revenge after failed attempts to reconcile.

The incident occurred at a three-way intersection in Ban Pak Klawng, Moo 16, Nam Dip sub-district, Pa Sang district, Lamphun. Police investigator Pol. Lt. Col. Paisarn Wannachai from the Pa Sang Police Station responded to the scene with officers from the local investigative unit and community leaders.

The victim, identified as Ms. Aranya (surname withheld), was found critically injured after being shot in the forehead. Emergency responders rushed her to Lamphun Hospital for treatment.

Initial investigations revealed that the attack occurred as Ms. Aranya was waiting for a shuttle bus to take her to work at a factory in the Northern Industrial Estate. The assailant, a man, reportedly used a locally modified shotgun to shoot her at close range.

Ms. Aranya’s history suggests that the likely culprit is her former husband, with whom she had a tumultuous relationship. The couple, who have a 7-year-old son, separated due to the ex-husband's addiction to methamphetamine. Despite being given several chances to reform, he relapsed into drug use, leading to the breakup. The ex-husband had repeatedly attempted to reconcile with Ms. Aranya, and on several occasions, threatened her with violence if she did not comply.

Following the attack, police initiated a manhunt for the ex-husband, but he remains at large. Authorities are currently reviewing security camera footage from the village and surrounding areas to gather evidence and ensure legal action is taken.

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement officials continue to pursue all leads in the case.
