Penang: Some Quick/current Info Needed

Featured Replies

i checked some past threads but many were dated. just looking for latest info -

Been awhile since i diy'd this...think i have to do a runner due to weekend.

does anyone know when PARVEZ stops taking apps for next day return?

penang stops accepting applications at 1200 correct?

how much is the cost for a single tourist (which must be paid in myr correct?)?

how much is a cab from jalan chulia, a current thread stated rm10 but also r/t myr from airport which seems much better value! im thinking that ride out should be about rm7??

yes Parvez stops at Noon for next day pickup. I believe the fee now is 110 riggies which Parvez will change your baht for you. They charge 20 ringgs still I think. As for your taxi question, you may want to reword it due to confusion

Ah-ha, so you DO use airports on visa runs.

thanks fred, 110 sounds about right incl the fee. i hope i can make it. train gets into hy supposedly before 7 but is usually 30-60 min late - then you gotta scramble for the minibus

===========================================

no a-hole, i realize that you have only been in thailand for a short while and think that the only way to get to penang is by air. -i will do it the old asian hand way, take the train. its actually really fun - but then again.... im have time, im not running back scared that i will find my thai wife/girlfriend shagging the likes of me.

im not a hard guy, you are forgiven.

fyi:

i will do the following:

bus to bkk b115

bts to hualampong b50

o/w to hatyai (2nd cl fan/sleeper) b550 (lower)

minibus to penang b220

return (add possible night in hat yai)

if i dont have to stay the weekend, the whole thing -including a single visa, bottle of whisky purch in thailand and some beers at the dive near the chinese temple off campbell will set me back b4500.

enjoy your day -

PS Have never flown to Penang in my life.
