Hi all,

I hope someone can advise me of correct registration for both myself and my Thai wife.

Background Details

1) my wife's Aunt, when she went to the USA for 7 year (been back many years) legally transferred her house to my wife so my wife could deal with business in Thailand on her behalf. It has never been transferred back upon my wife's Aunt's return due to legal cost of re-transfer. This is no problem legally the house is my wife's, but morally its her Aunts (NO problem here)

2) My wife is registered on her BLUE Tabien Baan at the address of the above house as owner

3) I am registered on my Yellow Tabien Baan at the same address (I was eligible for a Yellow Tabien Baan as my wife is the registered owner of that house and address.

4) In a year's time we may have another address, renewal rental contract at this rental address or move back into the house we are currently registered at on the Tabien Bans

OK our enquiry and need for advice please

My wife and I have just moved into a another house (rental contract in MY name, for a minimum period of ONE YEAR).

Neither my wife nor I know what we must (must not) do about entries in our Blue and Yellow Tabien Baans. Should we have new entries showing the new houses address OR are Tabien Baans house/address specific.

If they are house/address specific, am I correct in assuming we both leave our Tabien Baan as they are now essentially, showing us registered at our original address (mentioned in 1 above) even though we are not residing there currently?

If not, , what is the correct procedure please?

The owner of our rental does and has never lived at the rented house address. He lives (I believe) in Bangkok and bought the house (here in Khon Kaen) as an investment so I doubt he has a Tabien Baan for the rental house (nor could we get it).

I have advised the Korat Office on my TM47 (90 day reporting) of my change of address and also my Embassy. So from a Visa/Immigration perspective I believe I have done all necessary.

There is another matter too: My Thai Driving Licenses.

When I got my Thai driving licenses for Motorcycle and Car around April 2007 I correctly used my Yellow Tabien Baan as proof of current address AT THAT TIME. Is this still OK AND also for renewal next year as the address in the Tabien Baan is the address of the house my wife (who as I said) has legal ownership even though we do not reside there at present, OR must I somehow record my current temporary (1 year) rental address where we now DO physically reside.

Is the original address OK for my motorcycle insurance and tax discs and registration document. I know UK and Spain procedure but not Thailand's. I just do not know what is counted as my address. House my wife owns and we are registered for on our Tabien Banns or my new rental address where we are not on any Tabien Baans (and of course do not own the house.

I hope I have stated the facts clearly for members to understand ans some are able to give me much needed guidance and direction so I can comply with Thai Tabien Baan registration, driving license and motorcycle tax, insurance, registration documents (and other) laws.

Many thanks and Kind Regards,

Dave

GDHM,

As you are only renting the house in KK, and your wife still owns the original house, do leave all as it is, no problem!

The whole business of changing everything is not worth the trouble, and time, because you only rent the house temporarily!

Lot of people living in KK are registered all over the country, no problem.

Me and my wife own and live in two houses in KK, and have only Tambien Baan for one house!

Do not rock the boat too much, or much better, not at all!

As long as the original adress is viable, (mail etc) you remain there for the law.

And you live in the rented house for the time being!
