Return Flight 3 Days After Visa Expires

Featured Replies

I'm sure this question is answered somewhere on this forum, but I cant find it.

My tourist visa expires on sept 2, which is 3 days prior to the airline ticket. because i calculated 2 months instead of the 60 days the immigration offical stamped on my passport.

What are the consequences if I am asked to produce my passport during this 3 day period?

Would it be more economical for me to try to obtain a visa extension or pay any fine required when i go through immigration at the airport?

Thanks

Arrest, imprisonment in the IDC, deportation, possible (unlikely) life ban from Thailand, not nice :o

The fix is simple, since you have a Tourist Visa (60 day stamp) you can nip to your local immigration office and get a 30 day extension for 1900 Baht. QED :D

EDIT. Fine for overstay is 500 Baht per day. IMHO it's a no brainer, get the extension.

A three day fine would be 1,500 baht and overstay stamp in your passport. A 30 day extension of stay would cost 1,900 baht and a photo. If you are stopped on overstay by police it could be jail/judge/fine and deportation.

Take the Skytrain down to the Asoke station, go underground to the subway and hop on to the train that says "Hua Lamphong."  Get off at the Lumpini station, up top in the daylight, walk along Sathorn just a bit then either catch a #62 bus to Immigration or take a taxi.

Went to immigration yesterday, bts to sale deng and short taxi ride. Painless experience to get a 30 day tourist extension, they seem to have a good system. Thanks for your help
